On the subject of Gazza, was watching the big stadium programme with the little fella off top gear and he said something about the new cockerel at the stadium being made with a dent in it to replicate the old one after a player had shot it with an air rifle. Can only assume this could have been Gazza ?
I think it was!

Where to start re new signings
New keeper Heaton/pope
New left back??
New CB Ake
New CB ??
New RB ??
New DM Holberg ??
New striker Mitrovic/Giroud
That would be 7 new signings never gonna happen in one go imo might take 2 transfer windows.
Players to leave?? I would be open to offers for half of the squad tbh but the players I want gone for next season
Lloris, Dier, Jan, Rose, Wanyama, Foyth

Not a lot of money in those.

We need serious pace and stamina at fullback, Stamina, athleticism and intelligence at DM and a backup striker. This is the bare minimum just to stand still and we lack these players! Getting CBs and good Technical wingers/AM would be necessary to progress. As of now only Lloris, Sanchez, lo Celso, son, Kane have the ability and mentality to take us toward, N’Dombele potentially but is not quite there yet. The others should be backups for new players coming in.

Wouldn't be surprised if we finish 8th or 9th this season. Which could be a blessing in disguise. Granted, it is less than ideal not having CL funds, but it gives us a chance to reset, without being swallowed up in a maelstrom of games. Our players have looked gassed for so long. Feel like it would do more good than bad.

I also think we need to be open to vulturing the teams that go down. There's a few talented lads we could certainly use, and we wouldn't have to break the bank. They would also be battle tested and PL ready.

Would love to see us pursue the likes of Aarons, Dunk, Godfrey, Cantwell, etc... Should they become available. We also have the ability to get creative with how we pay these teams. Using some of our young players as makeweights via loans. I can see Parrot, Skipp, Cirkin and potentially Tanganga all going out on season-long loans next season. And i can see the likes of Norwich and others being keen on pulling off this type of deal.

Most of all i want to see us bring in players who have grit and determination. Those that play with a chip on their shoulders. Jose is right, in that we have too many nice players.

Dunno why I don't have enough 'privileges' to start a thread...so I'll post here

I see BBC gossip is linking us with Ben Foster and Chris Smalling. I hope this is just lazy media tattle

I'm Tottenham till I die, so can't say I'm done if we sign them or any fickle BS like that. But fuck me it hurts to read, and is a sign of how bad our current situation is that our beautiful club's name is even written in the same sentence as these two

More of the bargain basement transfer policy that brought us moura and aurier. Is Levy's sole criteria for a signing that they can be bought below market value?

I find that extremely hard to believe, we’re linked with 100s of players between now and August, it’s still early to be getting your knickers in a twist

You're probably right mate.
Just going from links to Koulibaly etc to Smalling...
Shows what we might be up against in the summer, esp if he insists on getting 'players with pl experience' (the euphemism for 'dross that our rivals can't wait to discard')

Edit. don't mean to add to the negativity. Jus struggling to feel very optimistic atm, and reading that first thing this morning...

Koulibaly is a link I don’t get - I think he has had a remarkable few years but is in his late 20s l, subject to a massive fee, and has had some injuries in the last couple of years. For me our search for a centre back needs more names - slightly younger ( not necessarily late teens and ewrly 20s), but I would say young enough to continue to learn the league? Mourinho defending, quick, good on the ball and athletic I would say is the premise.
The absolute key signing, however, is the signing of a centra midfielder, a defensive player, one that play in the middle of the park and then, if we do move to a 433, move in between the centre backs and then into midfield. Hojberg is the name that seems to come up again and again and I don’t think he is a bad player at all but I do wonder if he is “on the list” or the target. This is is such a big signing.

There are two main positions on my wishlist:
_ A new DM to both shield our defence and allow the likes Lo Celso and Ndombele to concentrate on going forward. Someone with leadership qualities preferably.
_ A new striker - not just some back-up who is content to warm the bench while watching Kane, but someone who can give him genuine competition and help raise both their games.

Arguably we could also do with a new left back (if Sessegnon isn't trusted), and a new right forward - someone with raw pace and threat like Traore or Sarr. But starting with a proper DM and striker we will be in much stronger shape.

Daniel Sturridge till the end of the season? Just terminated his contract in Turkey.
Banned over the gambling incident relating to his transfer so that’s why he cancelled his contract. Next

edit: Yiddo100 beat me to it!
