Hee-chan Hwang should be one to target for us. Versatile (similar in the mold to Werner in that he can play out wide or operate more central), similar age (24 - Today is his Birthday!), rumored to be valued at around 40m (Euros) which I feel is a great price and he's got a really, really good all around game. Think he'd be a better fit to the squad than Moura at this stage in that he can operate more naturally as a support striker next to the likes of Harry Kane (did it really well with Erling Braut Haaland).

Edit: Honestly not sure if this is accurate, but his contract may be up in 2021, too. If that's the case, winner-winner, Levy getting Hwang for Dinner.

Agree.

Name rhymes with wang and dang. Think of the match day threads when he’s letting himself and all of us down

I really do friggin like Mitrovic and would buy him in a heart beat. He has improved a great deal of his earlier days at Noocastle

Goal keeper - Pope (Burnley).
Defence - 2 full backs and a centre back.
Midfield - Doucoure ( Watford ).
Forwards - 2 that actually score.

With that task and then the extra job of building them into a team, no wonder no-one managers last 2 to 4 years. I think that we can only judge Maurinho after he has had a chance to do the aforementioned. Oh and persuade others to buy those we don't want anymore - best of luck with that.

Quite funny reading back through this that there are hardly any strikers mentioned (at all) and yet all the talk on the current pages is of how negligent we've been now that we don't have a fit one and how any fool could see that it was essential.

Not sure what you are looking at.
But almost every poster mentions striker needed, and at least 20 different names are mentioned

I want the squad to get surgery all over the pitch. Thought of a couple of potential cheaper options. Would like to see us raid the teams going down. List of players potentially going Aarons Cantwell Pukki from norwich, Cresswell (would be decent backup LB) Rice Diop from west ham, deulofeu (would be a great buy dangerous intelligent and can play up front in a pinch) dacoure from Watford and then villa have a couple in Mings and Grealish. I think we should be looking at a few cheaper options to try and pad sqaud out and offer options. None of them would be ridic money apart from Grealish. Need to be realistic we need probably 6 or 7 in the summer to really get squad sorted. 1 LB (potentially 2) 2 RB a CB a DM a CF at a minimum.

Apparently we bid for Keane from Everton in January .
This seems odd as he hasn't settled well there and he is from the NW so a move to London would be a major upheaval. If it had worked though he might have got back in the England reckoning. Will we return in summer.....?

But that's a debate for another thread.....

I wish that we could have you back in your prime Gazza. I'm a big fan.

No we didn't, zero ITK to support that. Source?

Aarons and Sessegnon as full backs, with a proper DM could work really well. Add a fit Ndombele, Lo Celso and a front 3 of Kane, Son and Bergwijn and we aren't far off.
Bar Sessegnon who I'm not sure is a Jose FB I totally agree. Whether that starting 11 is good enough to win a title I'm not sure but a proper DM and quality FBs would make a huge difference to how we play.

I´m not sure Sessegnon is even a PL player. Will be interesting to see if he proves me wrong though. Would be great if he did.

Aarons is interesting for sure. And I think Sarr at Watford got a shot at becoming a smashing player. Would love Grealish, but I believe that ship is sailed.

I just don´t watch enough football outside the PL to really dream of players these days. Aarons, Sarr and a DM would be amazing. Backup striker I don´t really care. Think far too much is made out of that issue. In any case it won´t be anyone high profile as in most games that player would be on the bench. I have argued before a type of player like King would make sense. He can play up front and as a wide forward. Not necessarily saying King is the one - even if we could do far worse.

I am very optimistic for the summer. I was afraid Mourinho would get hung up on someone like Dier, but he clearly hasn´t. Aurier is the only one playing far too much these days, but we obviously haven´t got much choice. Hoping to see more of Tanganga as a RB for this year and then some real competition for Aurier next year.

Upamecano, Max Aarons, Hojlbjerg, Jude Bellingham & Jonathan David

Anyone got a spare £150m floating about?

Saying that, selling Walker-Peters, Foyth, Rose, Wanyama, Dier gets us what, £60m or so? Move a few of academy players on for £5m-£15m, whatever then going rate for the Ines that won't make I think can be and all of that lot is very achievable for a £75m-£80m outlay.

On the subject of Gazza, was watching the big stadium programme with the little fella off top gear and he said something about the new cockerel at the stadium being made with a dent in it to replicate the old one after a player had shot it with an air rifle. Can only assume this could have been Gazza ?
