I know Defoe's small but how could they miss him.

Apparently Parker will miss the start of the season.

Actually he may not, though he may be with Brazil, Pearce suggested that if they were to go to the final it would be a week before the beginning and the competition would be like a preseason anyway

Presumably Benni and Gareth are walking wounded, so actually a 22 man squad with four keepers, so only 18 outfield players.

Archer is the puzzle; presumably it was felt Button needed a run out against Como, and with Miles as his understudy, Archer was at a loose end, so it was thought he might as well continue training with Parkes.

Anyway the squad is well-heeled for keepers and defenders, but that is fairly ropey collection of midfielders, and we need to go out and sign about half a dozen forwards.
