Turning our nose up at Tielemans in January because "we don't do loans" has to be one of the most stupid decisions I've ever heard of when you take into account the absolutely disgraceful state of our central midfield options. How much of a difference would he have made in all the league matches where we dropped points with Winks out of the team, or on Tuesday?

The only way this disaster is mitigated at all is if Poch was completely convinced we'd land Rabiot and then the passing of his father days before the close of the window prevented him from making the leap. Given that we aren't even really linked with Rabiot now I highly doubt that was the case.

We have to have the most inept recruitment setup in all of world football, and there's no fucking indication whatsoever that anything has changed. It's genuinely nauseating.

Where did you here we don’t do loans?

Poch making similar comments to before, says we need to re-build.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/av/football/48138001

"We are close, the last step is the hardest and biggest step. We need to re-build, it is going to be painful. When you talk about Tottenham, everyone says you have an amazing house but you need the furniture. If you want an amazing house you need lovely furniture, you need better furniture. We need to be respectful of MC, Liv, who pay a lot of money. We are brave, we are clever, we are creative, now it's about creating another chapter and to have the clear idea of how we build a new project for Tottenham."
I hope this summer is more interesting than last summer!

Haha fair enough mate. AWB & Zaha would be brilliant signings.

What about:
Out: Trippier, Eriksen, Toby, Lamela, N’Koudou, Janssen, Llorente, Vorm, CCV, Onomah, Wanyama, Aurier

In: AWB, Grealish, Sessengon, N’Domble, Zaha,Tilemans

GK: Lloris, Gazzaniga, Whiteman*
RB: AWB*, KWP*
LB: Rose*, Davies*
CB: Toby, Verts, Sanchez, Foyth
DM: N’Domble, Dier,
CM: Tilemans, Winks*, Sissoko,
LM: Son, Sessengon
RM: Lucas, Zaha
CAM: Dele, Grealish
FW: Kane*, (Zaha and Son to cover)

Whiteman only if the coaches feel he is ready, Gazzaniga was called upon once last season, and took his chance this season when needed to move up 1 rung. if there is a very good young HG keeper from League 1 or 2 then it might be an idea to go down that route, especially if Whiteman could get a loan in return

for me if Poch thinks KWP is ready I would just sell Trippier. I would only sell both if we had a high level replacement, and I like AWB but not with just KWP as back up, as we all know with Poch, when fit they will rotate every game.

Rose I'm still worried about even though he has shown improvement. I would keep Davies as back up for Jan, and if the price was right, take a chance on Sessengnon.

Toby I expect to go, especially if it's something Poch wants, and wouldn't replace unless we have the funds to do without effecting other areas.

we need to replace Wanyama, and if we could buy 2 for that position I'd either replace Dier or drop him back to CD. I wouldn't be unhappy as some in here if we bought A Gomes, I think he had been great for Everton and has had a season to settle in the PL. Berge sounds great and not costly, but at the moment we don't need to be buying players from very weak leagues for them to struggle, and then struggle to move on.

I'd be happy if Eriksen could sign a new contract, if he doesn't, and doesn't move on, we will have to hope he gives us his best in his final season. wouldn't be unhappy with Grealish and Tilemans, but would rather go for David Brooks instead of Zaha.

if we fail to sell or loan Janssen I'd rather give him another chance than offer Llorente 1 more year, though deep down would like it if we could promote or find someone that could stand in if Kane or Son was out

This summer is going to be so interesting. Unlike last summer where Poch's "we need to be brave" comment was ambiguous and open to interpretation, I think he's really throwing the gauntlet down this time. He's making it very very clear that we need to sign the players that he wants. "We have the house now we need the furniture" can't be interpreted to mean anything other than we need to sign some quality players to go with our quality stadium.

Levy is really going to have to change is MO this upcoming transfer window. Will be interesting to see how it plays out.

If anything his coments last year sounded more serious because they were accompanied by him saying his position at the club is out of his hands, that accompanied by the ITK was sounding worrying. It seems we tried everything within our means to get de Jong but he wasnt ready to leave. Poch was probably encouraged by this even though he didnt get his man, he knows the spending possibilities are there more than it has been in the past. Hopefully the overrun stadium wont hamper us but we have undoubtedly progressed further in the cl than we would've planned for.

Will be interesting to see if theres anything else interesting in that interview later.

we've heard all this before. I don't expect this summer to be any different to the previous with Enic and their penny pinching ways on the recruitment side.

I genuinely think we will spend a decent amount of money in the upcoming window.

As much as we love Spurs as a football club, we are a business first and foremost. Levy and Lewis are shrewed businessmen, and they know the importance of keeping our club on an upward trajectory. It is paramount to their plan of selling the club (business) on in the future.

Failing to sign any significant players for a third straight window without any excuses to fall back on is unforgivable, and they know that. If their plan is to sell the club to the highest bidder, why would they damage the value of the club by standing still? Think about it from a business perspective and apply a slight amount of logic and you'll come to the same conclusion.

Don't get me wrong, I am not defending the past 2 windows or the men responsible for the complete lack of recruitment which has hindered us in on of our most important seasons in the last decade. I just have a feeling they will go completely against the grain and loosen the strings this summer. They will give Poch exactly what he wants, if all the factors of a transfer come together. The one factor I don't think we will stumble on is finances. It just makes better sense business wise.

Our value has already climbed significantly due to the stadium being opened and our advancement in the CL knockout stages. If we don't sign the players we need and continue with this progression, we would lose Poch and his team and possibly some other first teamers in the next 12 months. That would severely dent our value and appeal to potential buyers. They simply have no choice but to keep the momentum going.

I wouldn't be surprised to see a net spend of £100+ Million, with outgoings. This could be hugely minimized by an Eriksen sale, but you catch my drift. Call that optimistic, but frankly its what we need to take the next step forward as a club and business. If they don't make the move this window they would risk everything they have invested so wisely into thus far. These are not your average Joe's gentlemen, they are extremely successful, intelligent businessmen, and they will make the right decision for the club.

Maybe Poch simply knew/knows that Tielemans will still be available in the summer & felt seeing how he performs in the PL for another club would be better than risking him at our own club and finding out he's not suited to the league.

Unlikely I know, but not out of the question?

we couldn't sign another Non HG and put them in the CL squad without leaving 1 of our other 17 Non HG which would of meant having to drop someone out, or Poch break a promise to Foyth. whoever he dropped wouldn't of been happy

Our two next league games will determine who we buy or try to buy . Just bloody beat Bournemouth will yer
They really won't mate. For years we were told we needed CL to attract the better players. How's that worked out for us so far seeing we're still signing players who would have joined us if we were a mid table table ffs :banghead:

I feel for Poch. So far he's been given some old used planks, a hammer and some nails and he's had to build his own furniture. When you really think back about our past 5 years or so it's a bloody miracle we're ahead of all but 1 or two clubs.

If we did get to the final I’d guess that’s a £50m bonus at least from what they’ve budgeted. Pochettino isn’t an idiot he will be fully aware of that. And I’m sure he will be pretty miffed if he isn’t given that to spend as he has earned it.

This sounds like he knows Eriksen and Toby and other favourites (Lamela, Wanyama, Trippier?) won't be here next season.

Obviously it's painful to lose them, especially Toby and Eriksen, but the club does need new energy breathing into it.

I think our core (Alli, Kane, Jan, Lloris, Dier, Son, Sissoko (yes), Winks, Rose, Lucas) allow us to have a reshape in which new signings can be phased in as opposed to come in immediately and be expected to produce. Obviously, Eriksen will be the glaring one to replace and we will need one or two players who can come in and step up in his absence but if we get that right and can give our depth some serious replacements then we can look forward to challenging.

Lloris

New RB - Sanchez - Jan - Rose/New LB

Dier
Sissoko Winks

Son Kane Alli

Is a pretty strong starting PL 11 to begin with. Adding a new creative AM, CM/DM, 2xFBs and potentially a new ST/ATT should give us enough depth so as the season goes on we can get stronger.

I think if Wanyama, Winks, Lamela and Rose had been fit all season and we could rely on them we would likely be looking at only replacing Eriksen and bringing in new FBs but because our squad is ravaged then we need to be looking at more.

“We need to rebuild it’s going to be painful “ surely points towards eriksen. Unless he considers losing janssen and wanyama a rebuild lol.
