Maybe if he wasn't rushed back because of lack of squad depth he would stay fitter. Similar to Harry Kane's injuries.

He's actually worse than Dembele with injuries and it feels like no one mentions that.

This season, Winks has missed 8 games (so far) through injury, Dembele missed 12 games whilst he was here and he left in January!

Neither of which have been extremely well, because he is continuously playing through an underlying niggle. In minutes he has played the equivalent of half the number of matches.

Shit I should have known the second I said something negative about Winks the masses would come out.

That's possible quite true. I have nothing against Winks at all, but he does have an injury concern.

I feel like some of the wishlists don't really take into account the need to keep our homegrown quota healthy. Depends who we see leave I suppose, but I think we'll have to fill a few of our squad holes with HG players.

I doubt Maddison will leave this summer, or Grealish if Villa come up. I'd be looking at bringing HG players in for spots where we have an established first teamer - so LB, probably RB regardless, and AM. The likes of Sessegnon, Aarons, Brooks I guess. Obviously the much talked about 3rd GK spot should be English FA trained as well.

If we have to replace Eriksen and Alderweireld we don't want to be limited in finding the right players.

Thinking about the squad, it's scary how few I'd really, really want to keep after this season. Probably Lloris, Vertonghen, Eriksen, Dele, Son, Kane and maybe Lucas Moura And Walker Peters for another season. I'd like Dier to stay too, if he would be fit for a whole season. I can't even come up with a full starting eleven of player I think we have to have.

What about Sissoko?

This summer is going to be so interesting. Unlike last summer where Poch's "we need to be brave" comment was ambiguous and open to interpretation, I think he's really throwing the gauntlet down this time. He's making it very very clear that we need to sign the players that he wants. "We have the house now we need the furniture" can't be interpreted to mean anything other than we need to sign some quality players to go with our quality stadium.

Levy is really going to have to change is MO this upcoming transfer window. Will be interesting to see how it plays out.

If he doesn’t he might lose his manager.

I took from that interview that Poch is really committed to us and wants to see out the next phase. If he’s not given the players he wants or we can’t sign good, well scouted, players then he’s not going to be able to do it

I think the improvement behind him becoming a useful player has been marvellous, and I’d sell him in a heartbeat.

If we are serious about Gomes its clear we're no longer interested in challenging for the top spots. Gomes is way to casual, slow and easily overran in midfield. On his day he can do some nice stuff with the ball, but way of the required standard for a team like Spurs.

Lets go for young, talented and hungry players like Grealish and Sessegnon; the kind of players we have built our success on. This whole buying the top clubs rejects for a bargain price will get us no where.

Think a few would be very pleasantly surprised what Grealish would actually bring.

He’s carried Villa on his back this season, has relished in the captains role. Has lovely quick feet can play out of tight spaces and is also very good at drawing tackles and fouls to ether move play forward or to break up opposition pressure.

He’s also got a fair bit of bite about him, he’s a villa lad but I think he would understand the pressure and meaning of derby games and I think we could rely on him to put in a proper performance against Arsenal, Chelsea etc.

I do t think he will come if Villa get promoted, so for our sake I hope they don’t. I do just think that a lot of people on here will be very pleasantly surprised by what he adds if we get him.

Maintained it since last summer - he would be an excellent signing and I agree with everything you have stated regarding his qualities.

Very harsh to impugn Winks on the basis of his current injury, which has been reported by multiple journalists as being a direct result of overwork. It's not his fault that he was never rotated this season, if we'd managed to sign Grealish in the summer or Rabiot in January he'd probably still be fit.

That being said his ankle troubles are a concern, but that's all the more reason we never should have been in a position of needing to play him in every fucking match.

More the comparison to Dembele that 'nobody' seems to mention. The one that was not strictly accurate which is maybe why it is only you that mentioned it. Winks has suffered injuries but he averages 30 games a season over the last 3 years despite not always being first choice. Not bad for a young midfielder in a top 4 team. If he had his op a few months ago maybe he would have been fit for the end of the season but instead he played through the pain barrier for the good of the team to his own personal detriment. As a fan I appreciate that rather than see it as a reason to replace him.
