Abit over board re AWB in here

Speaking to a group of Palace fans on the way home tonight and they don't rate AWB as highly as some on SC. They all agreed that they would be delighted if someone paid £40m for him. Onions.

There's people on here that would probably be happy with that much for Eriksen to be fair...

Next they'll be saying that they don't care if he leaves, they've got Martin Kelly anyhow...football fans we're all the same:ROFLMAO:

Cross Zaha off the list after that display last night ? Next door to useless I thought.
You're right, he didn't play very well really, but if a bad game gets you crossed off the list then prepare for another barren summer in the transfer market :D

We won’t cross him off the list because of his performance, we will cross him off the list because he wouldn’t be able to look Sissoko in the eye as a teammate after Sissoko spent 93 minutes violating him last night. Just goes to show how important Sissoko has become for us this season.

Agree re Zaha, looked intimidated last night I wouldn't be spending big money on him. Seen him a few times, nowhere as effective as Son in a team where everything goes through him.

First time I've seen AWB looks like a really good player, first and foremost he defends. I keep hearing about Trippier's delivery but I rarely if ever see it and he can't defend.

Zaha is consistent at one thing and that’s being ‘inconsistent’, and it’s why he’ll never make the step up to a top 4 club.

Wingers always get called inconsistent.

Zaha has power, pace and some skill. Not a huge amount of ingenuity to his game.

When he is given space and he gets the better of the full back then he can be extremely dangerous.

When double marked or a team finds a way to nullify him he doesn’t have enough extra to his game to make much of an impact.

I guess one thing to bear in mind is if a team doubled up on Zaha if he was playing for us, Kane and Son would be finding space for fun and that wouldn't go well for the opposition. With Palace it's just offering more opportunity for one of their strikers to shank it over.

True, Zaha would unlikely be doubled up on individually playing for us but teams often park the bus more which results in two lines of four.

I like Zaha and in some situations he could be very useful for us but I don’t believe he has that bit extra required for an aspiring top four side.

Every match I have seen AWB in he has been one of their strongest players. I fear United will be in for him before we get a sniff. Our new Stadium though must give us more chance, especially if we make Top 4.

Would rather neres, ziyech, or Lozano. They'd all cost less and probably have more end product in our team. That's if we want an out and out winger (which I'm not in opposition to). Pace is a necessity though.

Three good calls, though Ziyech is more central isn't he?

If TA leaves I doubt we will sign a new senior CB to cover him. We probably should, but I don't think we will. More likely to get someone young for the future/promote someone from the academy and stay with what we have.

Also, it's AndersEn. Don't want to end up with a fat Brazilian in the team..

My bad, I do agree with you realistically, the only caveat I'd say is that our current playstyle relies on the CBs having good passing ability as we tend to go for a more physical midfield and AndersEn has good passing range.

Personally I think Foyth and Sanchez are still quite raw and we will have to deal with a season where they get a lot of starts despite making errors but it will be worth it in the long run especially Foyth.

That wasn't the point I was making now was it? But seeing as you brought it up, I think he could easily do better at a bigger club. I don't think he got a fair crack at United (for a variety of reasons), but in a team that's struggling most of the time there's going to be spells where he gets dragged down. He's got the tools to be a massive player and I'm not sure what people expect from him, he's playing at Palace FFS, he's easily too good for them, he scores almost a goal every three games, gets assists, creates chances and often has a massive effect on their overall performances. You'd have to assume his goals/assists numbers would improve in a better team. He's exactly the sort of player we should be looking to sign. If he were absolutely tearing it up we'd have no chance so yeah, I'd be quite happy to sign him, it'd be no more of a gamble than signing any other player.
