The thing is Tielemans wasn't just a loan, it was a swap deal involving Adrien Silva. There's every chance Monaco wouldn't go for a loan to us knowing that a loan to Leicester involved them getting a player in return as they fight relegation

Oi, they got the almighty Nkoudou ;)

Its kind of pointless making a list now. Lets wait and see who is still available when the calendar turns to August.

Good post

Btw, have you got a link to the 'Toby making noises about staying'?

Great news if true

No particular interview stands out, more his tweets about the new stadium, the video of him visiting with Jan for the first time etc.

Either he's a good actor or he's a lot more content than he was 12 months ago. And of course his one year contract option being taken up. I hope I'm not wrong.

I'm too excited for tonight to do work so I've tried to be more indepth on my wishlist (With Pochs recent interviews in mind) even though I already filled this out once.

Anyway from spending time thinking about it, we've given ourselves far too much work to do over the summer and I suspect it will take 2 seasons in a row of excellent transfer windows but here it goes.

Primary Positions (if nobody left)

CM - NDombele, we haven't replaced Dembele and NDombele is frankly the perfect replacement for him, he has everything it takes to replace dembele, I say we open up a spot on non-HG by letting Vorm go and getting an english 3rd choice and use that spot for this position.

https://www.whoscored.com/Players/321389/Show/Tanguy-NDombele

Alternatively: Rabiot

RB - Atal, personally feel this is the biggest positional weakness we have within the team so I'm going for somebody with excellent defensive stats and looks great going forward. To cover the Homegrown aspect we would have to sell Aurier.

https://www.whoscored.com/Players/361816/Show/Youcef-Atal

Alternatively: Max Aarons or Wan-Bissaka provide great english options.

Starting players leaving

Eriksen - I'm pretty resigned to losing him so I want us to sign a player who I see as the perfect replacement who can also drop deeper if we decided to go with a 4-3-3 instead and that is Havertz

https://www.whoscored.com/Players/326413/Show/Kai-Havertz

I've seen a few links to Fornals and Soler but I haven't seen them play. Alternatively to Havertz i'd go for Brandt who has a great release clause and has been playing more centrally recently but previously was a RW meaning he'd also benefit us in a 4-3-3. Alternatively from an english POV I'd have said Brooks would be a good but different option but he's just signed a new deal so my english alternative would be Grealish.

Alderweireld - I'm resigned to Alder leaving also and I'm going to go with the guy we continuously get linked to who seems ideal and plump for Anderson. My CB alternatives are thin on the ground as I don't know anybody else who I rate who we could likely get.

https://www.whoscored.com/Players/231135/Show/Joachim-Andersen

So this would give me a rough starting 11 of:

Lloris
Atal Anderson Vert Rose
Sissoko Ndombele
Son Havertz Dele
Kane

Admittedly I'm not sure how we would line up our cms with Ndombele providing a lot of power in the middle, we might be able to go back to Dier being a dm or perhaps rely on Ndombele for more defensive responsibilities.

Which brings me to our remaining bench options

Gazaniga
Trippier/KWP/Davies
Sanchez/Foyth
Winks/Skipp
Dier/Wanyama
Lamela/Moura
Llorente/Janssen/Nkoudou

Firstly I'd try and let Wanyama move to China and I'd then aim at replacing him with Sander Berge. I'm not sure if Berge is ready for first team football just yet and I'm hopeful we can get him for a good price and conversely get decent money for Wanyama.

https://www.whoscored.com/Players/321020/Show/Sander-Berge

Next for me is where it gets tricky, because I've already named 5 signings which seems like a massive overhaul but as this is a wishlist I'll power forward with confidence because I think if we realistically want to compete next season we need around 8 signings and I'd have more if I didn't think it was too excessive.

I'd try and move Ben Davies on because his non-HG status in europe is a frustration and my first choice would be Ferland Mendy

https://www.whoscored.com/Players/296337/Show/Ferland-Mendy
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-0dvhJ36eWo

Alternatively I'd look at Jamal Lewis from Norwich and Sessegnon from Fulham depending on how he sees his career going because I personally believe he would make a great left back but that would be a signing which might not pay dividends right away.

Finally I'd sell Llorente, Janssen, Nkoudou and sign Bowen. He can play across the 3 and personally I think a like-for-like backup to Kane doesn't work because they get 4 games every year and are expected to fill the void, I prefer people who can play across the 3 and offer something different similarly to Son.

https://www.whoscored.com/Players/322596/Show/Jarrod-Bowen
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SZ9MIBwwvfk

So TLDR:

Buy
Ndombele
Atal
Havertz
Anderson
Berge
Mendy
Bowen
3rd choice keeper

Sell
Vorm
Aurier
Eriksen
Alderweireld
Wanyama
Davies
Llorente
Janssen
Nkoudou

I do think we can keep squad balance if we stuck to those sales personally. I've managed to work within the HG rules. Personally I think I deep down there's a few I've not mentioned who frankly could do with moving on but I think the lists I've got are at their peak extreme without going overboard so I'll stick with this.

If you think about it, this season was always likely to be the one where we were going to try and get away with hanging around in the top 4 by the skin of our teeth.

With the World Cup exhaustion and the minuscule timeframe it gave to make any signings, no pre-season, the stadium move, it feels like there’s a very good chance Levy and Poch decided now wasn’t the time to make any moves, but to bed down, consolidate, and attempt to ride out what would always be an incredibly difficult season.

Now, this summer, with the stadium open and established, the players not subject to a massive international tournament and with Poch able to plan for a full pre-season, this does feel like the time when if we were ever going to spend some money, it would be now.

I don’t believe the stadium costs will impact the transfer budget short term as that’s not how the financing or payments work, so the opportunity is there. The squad needs freshening up. There are likely departures from two top players (Toby and Eriksen) which is likely to bring in around £100m and along with the sacking off of some squad members, will open up some slots in the squad for both foreign and home grown talent.

The time is now (or in a few months). Sign those two big marquee signings (CM and RB). Snap up those promising young English talents (Bowen & Cork). Punt on some talented foreign youngsters (CB, CM, ST).

Do I have faith that Levy and Poch can pull this off? Not really.

But if ever there was a time to refresh and repair the squad, to start next season on a high, and at pace, with big ambitions - that time is now. Maybe the best opportunity to affect the psyche of the club in modern history due to the stadium effect.

Get it done guys.

JJ said it’s either Toby or Poch that stays, seems their relationship is beyond repair.

If TA leaves I doubt we will sign a new senior CB to cover him. We probably should, but I don't think we will. More likely to get someone young for the future/promote someone from the academy and stay with what we have.

Also, it's AndersEn. Don't want to end up with a fat Brazilian in the team..

That's what he said, however, like many others, I'm very confused as to how their relationship can be so broken and yet they're still apparently quite happy to work in the same office so to speak. When Poch was finished with other players they were banished and never seen again.

I think what JJ said can be taken as accurate at the time, all things in life are subject to change. Whether they have or not we will have to see.

Wan Bissaka please! Surely the fees from Trippier and Aurier would get you close to what Crystal Palace would want... and I said close not exact.

Sign Wan Bissaka at all costs. He joins Lozano as my 'must-haves'. I'm still undecided about the central midfielder.

Even If he cost £40 million he would be worth every penny. Get in £30-40 million for Aurier and Trippier and we can raise that fee to £50 million in add ons. Give him another season and I can guarantee he will be the best RB in the PL. There’s just something special about him that only comes around once or twice in a generation. Reminds me of a younger Marcelo.

Palace will probably want more than £5m

Even though I found this hilarious, Trippier is worth minimum £20 million just because of his semi final goal. If we can get Everton to take him off our hands that £20 million becomes £40 million. :ROFLMAO:

I think we should be able to get 20-25m for trips and 15-20m for aurier
