Rooney: "You aren't giving me the assurances I want over the strength of the squad and future ambitions"

David Gill: "Here's 30k extra per week"

Rooney: "I now feel re-assured"

That's how the conversation must have gone. Although Rooney may not actually know words like assurance and ambition as they have more than two syllables.

Hopefully he won't be fit by the time we play against them, but will be by the time they play City.

Great work by the agent. Who here wouldn't look like a complete tit for an extra £30k a week? I know plenty of people who do it for free :)

The Manure faithful (is there such a thing?) will no doubt be pleased but he may well have ruined their trust in him. Certainly, he'll be even more disliked than he already was by opposition fans.

Some plank rang up Talksport and said that he thinks Rooney and Red nose are geniuses as they cooked up this plan to get Rooney to say he wanted to leave so the Glazers would give Fergie some more dough.

What a load of bollocks!! Blatantly kidding himself if he believes that.

Didn't Ronaldo sign a new five year contract before going off to Spain a year later or something?

This guarentees that Manchester United get the money they want should Rooney still go....which I can still see happening? How can the Man United fans cheer him agai........oh yeah, they're Manchester United fans, they don't cheer.

I find the whole thing quite funny, because I have a strong suspicion that Rooneys dip in form is not actually a dip, but the beginning of a descent from his peak. He wouldn't be the first player to peak young and then spend the rest of his career struggling to get near those lofty heights. Gazza left us at 24 (admittedly with a huge injury) and was never the same player according to those more aware of that era than I could claim to be. Joaquin, Denilson, Fowler, Collymore, Adriano, Recoba, Lentini, just a few examples that come to mind straight away of players who looked unbelievable, like they had it all, in their early 20's, but never reached those heights from their mid twenties onwards. I wouldn't be shocked to see Rooney go the same way.

It'll all go horribly wrong for them just you wait. Rooney isn't C.ROnaldo, he's not a patch on him in fact and nobody will pay the money after they see his next 18 months worth of performances.

Wasn't Lentini involved in a serious car crash? Bit harsh :)

Yea, that doesn't explain him playing so badly that Fergie had to drop him to the bench.
