And even if not, 10 points from 5 matches is top four form in any season, and that’s including them two point robbery v Newcastle and an opener v Everton which by that point will have to be seen as an outlier., which would suggest that we’re capable of much better than just top four.

One step at a time but if we best West Ham there’ll be a lot of reason to get excited.

Indeed.

Our next 4 PL fixtures are West Ham, Burnley, Brighton, and West Brom.

After that we have City, Chelsea, Arsenal, Palace, Liverpool, Leicester and Wolves.

Looking at that, we really have to be looking to win the next 4 games as a minimum to put us in good stead heading into that bastard run of games in December.

If we get atleast 4 points from each of the so-called other clubs from the top 6, we could be in with a shout for sure.

So looking forward to that December, might start a 'must win' or season defining' bingo...drink a shot every time someone says that.

Will be interesting to see if we will even fancy more to play against sides with a high line and an offensive style as we seem to be really deadly on the counter. Of course though our defense needs still some work to prevent easy goals.

RIP Shadydan, who sadly left us in December 2020 due to too many 'seasoning defining' shots

Anything less than top four would be a massive failure this season.. If the stars align we have a squad capable of competing with anyone..

Our depth is ridiculous and attacking options a joke. I do think we have looked at the compressed nature of this season and gone all out as far as depth (2 games a week pretty much all season). This should enable us to compete better than others on all fronts, our complete second eleven could compete well in the premiership..

For the first time I don't think we are reliant on one or two players to stay fit, great signings with Ndombele and Lo Celso going under everyone's radars ..

looking forward to the ride!!!

"Yes, is that Ambulances R Us? I'd like to pre-book a vehicle to take a Mr S. Hadydan to hospital sometime in December. He's going to have massive alcohol poisoning."

May as well start now. This game coming up against West Ham is a must win. If Bale plays it might also be season defining.

I'd be surprised to see Bale start against West Ham. Think Lamela might get the nod after his performance on Sunday, tbh. There's a home Europa League game the following Thursday then Burnley away. Think Bale's minutes will be managed fairly carefully across those games.

Agree, but think he might get a run out.

As to our making top 4, people seem to forget that baring last season, we have been constantly in the top 4 for the past few years. With the upheaval of last season we dropped top 6 understandably so. Now we have a much better, bigger, experienced squad managed by a settled and wining coach, I would be surprised if wont be actually challenging for the top, much less top 4.

Top 4, definitely. Top spot? I'd like to see us win our next six PL games before I start thinking about that.

People getting very confident after a strong week of performances. Should be targeting 4 wins out of our next 4 league games but then we have a challenging period in the league. City, Chelsea, Arsenal, Palace, Liverpool, Leicester and Wolves which runs us to the end of the year. I think we will have a very firm picture as to how good we really are by the end of that period.

Field seems to be wide open as of now.

In the Top 10 you will see Chavs, City, Pool, Arse, United, Leicester, Everton, Villa, Wolves and us.
But the ranking can be anything really. Still would rank Pool as favourites and City will come strong with time but every of the other teams can reach Top 4, even though Villa and Wolves are unlikely.

So Top 4 and a trophy would be absolutely awesome. And that does not rule out the trophy of the league.

Although I think we are still buzzing about last week and get a bit ahead of ourselves.

But, and here's the thing, winning breeds this sort of confidence. It enables you to ride on the crest of a wave. Look at Liverpool last season. Even when they looked like drawing or even losing they pulled it out of the bag.

This is the sort of thing that Jose is great at. Instilling that win at all costs mentality. The ruthlessness and aggression to win. It was so visible on Sunday. Aurier scores our 5th goal and all he kept saying as he was getting slapped on the head was "let's keep going let's keep going let's keep going". Seasons gone by we would have eased off at 4-1, sometimes even 3-1.

But not this squad. They have a different edge about them.

Momentum is a massive factor in a title race. And the momentum is with us right now, for a change.

On the plus side we've had a fantastic (and much needed) transfer window and perhaps won games that probably wouldn't have previously. We have a winning manager and one of the best players in world football to come in to the side still.

On the down side our bad is really bad. I've seen enough of us to know that when we are at it and playing well we are very difficult to beat, but when we are not we have looked very poor. That needs to be addressed because you're not always going to play well.

Numerous times already you’ve heard players and the manager saying our aim is to win every game. Next game is the most important one, and we intend to win it. That mentality will really help us.

we shouldbe really encouraged by how we navigated this past week of football, and with the expected top two already suffering embarrassing defeats, we ought to have confidence to go for it.

Under Poch in peak years we always did well over the congested Xmas period as we were fitter than other teams. Now, we have such an amazingly deep squad I think we will do extremely well over Xmas as we can literally play two totally different teams in consecutive games.

I’ll tell you what else is making a difference for us. The more seasoned members of our squad who had to endure playing ‘away’ every week at Wembley for 2 seasons. Add to the mix no fans and I think we are in as good a position as anyone to cope with ‘away’ games at the moment.
