It’s also the reason we don’t put innocent people on death row… swings and roundabouts.
Where's death row in the UK? But on more serious note
The philosophy was better 10 guilty men go free than one innocent hangs....which i honestly agree with in principle
However whilst City are probably guilty of many heinous crimes, nothing i know of screams out "lets hang the bastards"
so maybe in a case like this we can afford to not worry so much about the niceties.......
On second thoughts if you are a saudi named Kashoggi.....you may have a different point of view....

in an alternative universe, City and chelsea ....hit them with an initial few charges say 20 and hit em really hard......and then keep charging them with the next 90 charges...relegate them for corruption, fraud etc and see how much the sports washers like that......(their fans will be mocked) their staff will run for the hills........and they can play non league football for the next 10 years
whilst they face more charges in other words send them to oblivion and let them argue the majority of BS defence from there.
In reality, what helps these guys cheat is the presumption of innocence, a fairly unique concept in british law.
In most countries around the world it works the other way round, so you are guilty till you prove your innocence.
Especially in the UAE and Russia! (but also france and italy) Its the reason why we can get messed around for years in the courts whilst people appeal and game the system by dragging out the process.....

In France, article 9 of the Declaration of the Rights of Man and of the Citizen of 1789, which has force as constitutional law, begins: "Any man being presumed innocent until he has been declared guilty ..." The Code of Criminal Procedure states in its preliminary article that "any person suspected or prosecuted is presumed innocent for as long as their guilt has not been established"[6] and the jurors' oath repeats this assertion (article 304; note that only the most serious crimes are tried by jury in France)

In Italy, the second paragraph of Article 27 of the Constitution states: "A defendant shall be considered not guilty until a final sentence has been passed."

The Constitution of Russia, in article 49, states that "Everyone charged with a crime shall be considered not guilty until his or her guilt has been proven in conformity with the federal law and has been established by the valid sentence of a court of law". It also states that "The defendant shall not be obliged to prove his or her innocence" and "Any reasonable doubt shall be interpreted in favor of the defendant".

In Iran, Article 37 of the Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Iran states: "Innocence is to be presumed, and no one is to be held guilty of a charge unless his or her guilt has been established by a competent court".

The UAE's judicial system respects the dignity of people. The UAE penal code (PDF, 1 MB) presumes that an accused is innocent until proven guilty.

The Universal Declaration of Human Rights, article 11, states: "Everyone charged with a penal offence has the right to be presumed innocent until proven guilty according to law in a public trial at which he has had all the guarantees necessary for his defense."

Err. Vladimir, is that you? Didn't know you were a Spurs fan. If it's all the same, could you keep quiet about it? We don't really want authoritarian nutjobs who think nothing of murdering rivals associated with our club. By the way, innocent until proven guilty is a cornerstone of every civilised county's legal system, it's definitely not unique to Britain. It's so important, even countries like yours pretend to abide by it.

Jesus Christ I opened this thread and the last few posts had me questioning where I turned wrong.

Several important rule changes are gradually helping

Like the restrictions on loans which has hit Chelsea's model on farming out players

Important that most clubs actually do support the profitability and sustainability rules as stated in the Athletic article

Look, if you want to give it some about the death penalty and death row, presumptions of innocence or other weightier topics, get to D&D and while i'm about it, there's plenty of threads for FFP around the gaff.

Let's leave this thread to slagging off or otherwise of Rumpelstilskin :woot:

I think, as someone who believes Levy is an idiot, the broken clock has stopped once for him.

His general level of incompetence and failing to purchase at the right time has given us a window to achieve.

Next window obviously. If the fool got Amazon or Woolworths... I'm not an expert on such matters... To stump up 300 million over the next ten years for naming rights we could use that money to give Ange a war chest of such polarity we could genuinely get mbappe. He's on a free in July.

There is a genuine chance to beat the oil and slave teams on their own terms.

We could have done that with poch too. But history is history. We have a brilliant manager with a plan, back him.

Mbappe is not coming to Spurs - no matter how much we stump up, imo.

He is going to stay at PSG, or go to the global icon - Madrid.

He's definitely not staying at PSG.

Madrid have a chance. But again. The new rules May strike them out.

There are very few clubs that can get him. We are genuinely one.

Personally I'd rather have kept Kane.

But hey. Our resident genius had other plans.

We’re genuinely not one.

Using that as a stick to beat Levy with is possibly the weakest argument against him yet.

Tut.

Your anger/annoyance at me shows me the small time club you have been conditioned to. be by Teflons stewardship.

I remember when Tottenham Hotspur got the best players.

We should expect nothing less from a chairman that pays himself the highest salary. One that sold our best player.... Probably ever. I wasn't born to see Greaves kick a ball.

I digress.

I have no anger towards you. I just disagree with you on this.

We were far from the biggest club in the country or Europe when Levy took over so criticising him for us not being in a position to buy one of the very best players in the world is an excessively weak argument.

Quality response.

It's less than you deserve tbh.

Who remembers when Levy took back all the fans shares at a pittence and said it will allow us to buy the best players and build a stadium to compete against the best in Europe.

He spent more money making it nfl proof than thinking of us.

I'm still waiting.

Without Kane we'd be Wolves. Probably Leeds.

One trophy in 23 years. From a club that once had the record of winning the most FA Cups.

Lol. Levy fanbois. They are the worst.

None of that has any relevance as to whether Mbappe is a realistic target for us.

I’m no Levy fanboy. I just don’t believe in illogical attacks on anyone.

Don't give such silly views any more attention!

We are where we are and let's bask in the positivity and potential for tomorrow or moan about the past!
