Think the last point stood out for me the most when he was asked about his statue, so modest playing that down he talked about the most important to him was the regeneration of Tottenham, dear Daniel doing this all out of the goodness of his heart, his great social crusade. 😂 The truth can be found here though, the football club obviously used as an in for a massive property development for profit for ENIC, which previous he was careful to say what profit made IN the stadium goes back to the club.

Also earlier he had talked about the importance of a new stadium so the kids would have the opportunity to watch, that didn’t quite match up later when he was queried about the high ticket prices pricing people out. 😂 Some quite impressive hoop jumping for that.

Also regarding the actual football team, you could get a lot of insight of how he sees us becoming successful when asked about making the woman’s team successful , all about increased regulation. Then later mentioned about new tighter UEFA rules in men’s. I think that’s the real game changer he’s hoping for so that he doesn’t have to waste anymore on his pathetic transfers. I think in Levy’s ideal world we would have massive profits every year, whilst winning a trophy or two because others were forced to stop spending…

Well yeah but the fact remains we had a decent first eleven but zero quality if we had any injuries or loss of form. It was hardly a stunning turn of events that Adebayor would stop trying in games, which is exactly what happened, and with Defoe unable to play up front on his own and considering VDV wasn't able to play more than 60 minutes in matches, we actually didn't have anywhere near enough attacking options, and we completely collapsed. We were 3 points off 1st place in January with a real shot at the title and we signed two geriatrics.
We also had Pienaar and Kranjcar, two technically gifted players that Harry failed to make adequate use of and one Mr Harry Kane that Harry never gave a chance to.

We should have had Adebayor, Defoe, Kane as forward options, two with experience and a talented youth player as backup. With three of Bale, Lennon, VDV, Pienaar, Kranjcar behind. That's a good set of attacking options with scope to rotate if needed. We also had a decent youth prospect in Townsend, who just like Kane never got a decent chance with Harry. Defoe not being able to play up top on his own is a bit of a myth, AVB used him in this role and he had one of his best seasons for us.

Our so called collapse happened when Harry started dreaming of the England job, funnily enough it picked up again after Hodgson was appointed England manager.

I don't think you can say we had a real shot at the title in January with 18 games left to play, it's far to soon, and thinking a player like Tevez would make the difference is rather optimistic since at the time he was suspended by Man City and had not played for four months and was unfit.

This is an interesting PR move to be honest. It's a position shift, and it looks like a deliberate one. He's a man that always keeps very quiet, until he needs to say something. And what he's saying here is: 'I need quotes out that move the dial from 'best interests of the club, doing everything we can to bring this club success' to 'it's always been an investment vehicle'. This CU interview does that pretty effectively.

Edit: And there must be a strategic reason for it...maybe a sale down the tracks.

"We want him to do more interviews!"

"Why's he doing this interview?!"

Granted I haven't watched/listened yet, but him actually going on camera isn't something to beat him with. Especially if you want him to be more public and transparent. The guy actually cannot win with some of you.

Definitely. Whatever he says will be weaponised by those wanting to get their knickers in a twist. We all know what he’s like and what’s happened historically.

This was the reason apparently

Pretty sure that his wish for a level playing field in terms of spending what you earn is no big secret, and it's what any non doped up club would want, so not sure how this is a stick to beat him with. Is that not what we all want? It's literally the only model that we can have without sportswash petromoney.

It's a naive perspective though (IMO). Levy's hoping that new FFP regulations will rein in the big spending clubs, when in all likelihood these clubs will use loopholes and expensive lawyers to circumvent these regulations just as they've done in the past.

One thing that I notice when he's talking about the club not being for sale in recent months (16.20), the camera cuts away and what he says next is edited out. He obviously says more about that but it is removed from the video. Something to consider perhaps.

He may hope and Wish for it, but hope is not a strategy. It would be like me basing my strategy on hoping Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley get broken up into small units by the regulator, so that I can compete. If I told my clients that was my business strategy was based on this, they would laugh me out of the room (and withdraw their money soon after).

I think the strategy is very clear from ENIC....property development, increased diversity in (non-football) sports and entertainment offering and hope we are in and around CL to keep up the impression that we are a big club.

Now these nations states have a foothold they're not letting it go.

This man is a fucking joke, how can you possibly say we're had some fantastic times in comparison to Arsenal doing what they're doing right now. We have FAILED year after year. Getting top 4 isnt great, its just an excuse for lack of trophies.

I couldnt care less if we finish 17th next season but win the FA Cup. JUST WIN A TROPHY!

lol, if our weekly performances were so bad that we finished 17th, everyone would be beyond pissed off.

I don't think he understands why people are annoyed and that's worrying.

He likes to say spending money doesn't correlate with success , well if that's the case why does he care about city and Newcastle? He knows it does but what I fear he doesn't understand is the ability of City to plan and build first team football people infrastructure and their ability to make the right transfer at the right time.

He clearly is passionate but every quote I've seen ( I have a toddler running round so can't watch it) just reinforces to me at least that he cares but he doesn't really understand why he ultimately fails at the football side of things. I just hope that Munn and the next DoF can influence positively and bring him on a successful journey.

The business stuff was standard nonsense from a CEO. Does anyone really believe the women's team is about anything but adding a revenue? He doesn't care about kids being able to get into a bigger stadium unless they're middle class ones I guess. But whatever , it's normal businessman stuff.
