I wonder now with hindsight if dropping Lucas for the CL Final was the beginning of the end in terms of how the squad regarded Poch, perhaps the start of losing the dressing room?

Jenas absolutely nailed it. Sadly very few of you realize it. This is ENIC’s fault. They have to go. They’ve ruined a good thing failing to back the manager in anything and failing to invest in the side before a needed reboot was asked by Poch. And they will never do what is required to take this club to further heights. We need to be sold. Now.

The players have downed tools which is unacceptable in my book. Don't you agree?

This happens when the players do not trust or respect their manager any more. And it is not always a conscious and deliberate thing, it usually happens over several months where performances get worse and worse to the point of no return. For example:
  • Before last season we had the best away record in the league over the preceding 3 seasons. We haven't won away in the league since January. 9 months ago.
  • We have only won 6 of our last 20 league games.
  • Our league form in 2019 to date is P25 W11 D3 L11- that's 36 points from 25 games! And we won 6 of the first 7 of those games! The rot set in during February.
How much longer do you give the manager when our squad of 25 players, full of international players, is getting those kind of results?

You can criticise the players, yes, but the solution is changing the manager.

They've probably gone already. Not bothered about league position this year. It's all about making personnel changes in the right places this season to enable us to build and improve next season. If we could have a run at FA cup that would be fantastic.

Disagree entirely

We are still well in the mix

I don’t dispute that ENIC need to move on within the next couple of years, but that cannot and does not take away from the fact that Pochettino is failing catastrophically in his role and that turning this around is now beyond his capability.

Poch is paying the price for letting the squad get stale. So important to freshen up the squad every season but we are left with the same core we had 3 seasons ago, half of which no longer want to be here.

Agree - and all this I only want this player.

A manager never gets his first choice.

ENIC is another problem we got ffs. Poch still has the 3 best squad in the league, yet our 2019 has been nothing more than shocking!
HAS TO GO!

We wouldn’t be where we are without Levy.

Absolute travesty to say otherwise. We have arguably the best stadium and training ground in world football. To say he hasnt been backed is a bit far fetched. ITKs have said Poch’s own targets have been unrealistic and there has been no compromise

Never once shot the rumours down and said he was completely committed to us. Could’ve asked reporters to stop asking, like Klopp has done, but didn’t.
The threat to quit before the final can’t have helped either

100% - disrespect

He will lucky to manage in a better stadium or facilities for rest of career

Interestingly if you imagined this was happening at Arsenal you would want Poch to stay as long as possible so the chaos continued. You would hope another manager didn't come in so you could take advantage of what is happening.

In my opinion theres 3 possible scenarios here, I'll start with the least likely;

1, Poch stays and turns it round with the players at the club. Those who know their football know that once a dressing room has been lost, that's usually it for the manager
I cant think of any occasions where the opposite has happened.
2. Poch stays and Levy backs him in January with a large wedge of cash and ships out the problem players. Due to financial restrictions this is a very unlikely option. Not a cat in hells chance that Levy with put the cash on the table for a mass change, nor will he sell the problem players for under his already inflated valuations.
3. Poch leaves or is given the sack. This seems to be the only real option if you look at it with your head and not your heart. A new manager brings in a fresh new approach, new training, new tactics and the players no longer have the comfort of knowing that they're automatically going to be picked because of reputation. The only issue with this is Levy, he always thinks from a business perspective and will see Poch as an asset. He will be hoping for the likes of Utd or Madrid to sack their manager and come in for Poch. He wont want to pay the compo for Poch and his staff.

Those people who are saying that Poch deserves time/credit for taking us to the champions league final and what he has done in the past, you seriously need to give your head a shake.
We have been playing poorly now for the whole of 2019, that's 10 month of time/credit thats been given to him (including a transfer window). The signs all point to the fact that we're declining as a team. Looking at the last week alone, we have been knocked out of the league cup by a league two team, suffered one of our worst results in the history of the club and today we were bossed by a Brighton team that has won 1 game in their last 16, failing to score in the last 10!
A change is needed and its needed now, the longer it is left, we are simply delaying the inevitable which will only make any future improvement harder the longer we leave it.

Poch you have worked wonders for our team and I am forever grateful. Unfortunately the relationship has turned sour and it is no longer working, do the right thing and move on. COYS

They aren't going, so deal with it.

I’m interested in where people think he will go if we do get rid?

United might think he’s a cheap option given we’d almost certainly have to pay his contract up as opposed to United coming in now and paying any sort of compensation

It's funny how so many of you think this is not Pochs fault.

I can't name them for obvious reason but I would wager if you knew which players agents I was getting my info from you'd probably have a different opinion.

There's plenty of blame to go around.

A. Levy is Levy - not many successful managers (i.e. those that have actually won something!) would work under him. He hasn't sufficiently backed Poch, particularly Summer '18 & Jan' 19, and even in August he was still playing silly buggers with some of our transfer dealings. The whole Sessegnon saga is a perfect example - all that last minute haggling didn't save us a penny with Fulham in the end. On the flip side, we've got a great new stadium and we know we'll never go back to the Irving Scholar days under his watch. Nevertheless, the fact that we have so many key players in the last year of their contract is negligent and borderline irresponsible - that lies with Levy.

B. Poch has struggled mightily since January. The latest results are just an exaggeration of what has been a continuous downward trend for the past 9+ months. He looks lost to me now and I'm not sure that he can turn this around. He has undoubtedly said some churlish and foolish things in the media - I can't think of another single 'big club' that would put up with his behaviour. I've no doubt that he has contributed to the general negative feeling and uncertainty that seems to have gripped the club since May (yes, even before the CL Final).

C. The players (to a man) have underperformed and some have simply given up. Can't think of a single one who is better than last season or the season before. An erosion of form, confidence and attitude. Eriksen has been an embarrassment to himself and the club. Same with Aurier. At least Toby still tries to be professional, albeit his performances have also been sub-standard. The Vertonghen issue is a mystery - we gave Sissoko a new contract which will last well into his thirties, but won't do the same for Jan? Throw Danny Rose into the mix and it's a sick joke - in all likelihood, NONE of our starting back 4 will be with us next season. Again, whose fault is that? My fear is that this malaise has now spread throughout the entire playing staff. They see what's going on, players disenfranchised with the club, no longer caring about it yet still playing week in, week out and what are they meant to think? What does Dier, Alli, Lamela, Winks and Kane think? Would you blame them?

So, all in all, plenty of blame to go around for this 'made in Spurs' shitshow....every one of them is culpable for this, from Levy to Poch to Eriksen and the rest.

F**king disgraceful. And sad. Really sad, because we were on the cusp of something very special with this group. I actually thought that we were going to break the mold and find sustainable success by doing things 'the right way'.

Unfortunately, I think we need wholesale changes in order to fix it - and to give us a chance of getting back to the top, where this club should be.... Not top 4, not runners-up, not happy just to make up the numbers. F**k me, if the scousers can do it, we should too!!!

But it won't happen with this ownership, this manager or these players.
