If they show any respect for the club, then surely they'll be an upgrade
We've seen John and Devine play already. Skill-wise they're nowhere close to being better than our second-choice midfield right now, otherwise they'd already be with the first team. If we do end up playing them, I predict they'll work hard, make mistakes and plenty on here will complain about their lack of quality and say they need to be upgraded.

Not you but the original post which seems to have been removed
Ok. In support of the original poster, and knowing his intelligence etc, I don’t believe he would be considered anti-Semitic. More likely ‘playing for laughs’ from a dramatic licence POV

I’m not sure what is news here.

ENIC has never put money into the club (see chart below from Swiss Ramble. Moreover, in the unlikely event of Joe Lewis being willing to put in more funds, Levy would object because he could not afford to put in matching funds and won’t want his shareholding to be diluted.

It’s also not news that at some point ENIC will want to sell out. A huge proportion of Levy’s wealth is tied up in Spurs, he’s not getting any younger and at some point he’ll want to take his money out, set up his family and retire.

That chart is appalling when you think about it. Not the fact that we are at the bottom but the fact that everyone should be close to £0m or at the very least below £200m!

While investment might be good to give Conte, a push now, does the club really need investment whenever it wants to spend? I know we've not had the benedit of the stadium with the covid lockdowns, but now it's open and with some of the highest ticket prices, matchday revenue + other events being held at the stadium, you'd like to think they'll have a decent bit of cash at some point.

That bit with John and Devine sounds not accurate at all. We all know Conte wants results and is not a talent developper. Not even Nuno used these players, even in the Conference League. We will see what happens but I would be surprised if we see John and Devine being even in the matchsquad once.

Not going to let any good or bad info get me worked up just yet. I find it hard to believe we don’t have money to back Conte of all people. Levy knows this is the final opportunity to increase the value of the club. If we refuse to let Conte and FP transform this squad with what they need to get us back into the top 4, there’s no coming back from this.

Was not remotely anti-Semitic, at least not intended to be. It was a joke at the expense of his reputation, not his religion. I deleted it because it was veering even more off topic and a fairly shit joke as well. But definitely not a joke with the intention of playing on generalised harmful stereotypes of a group of people
Come on everyone knows thats an anti semetic trope used as an old joke. You may not have meant it that way but that’s how most people who are Jewish imo would. Not funny and Best avoided. Again not saying your any semetic but that unfunny joke usually is

The thing about uncle joe not wanting to invest whilst believable, doesn’t make sense! Didn’t we have itk that he was the leading force behind appointing conte?

So just to confirm, you’re complaining about a joke that you’ve taken in a way other than which it was meant, and had been deleted before you’d finished complaining.

In the ITK thread.

Maybe a nice PM conversation would be more appropriate.

We’ll know alot this week. If there is any investment for this window, it will have to come now. Hope the meeting in the Bahamas was just finalizing terms with an investor(or a full on sale a consortium)

If it had been delivered by @coopsieyid we might have a valid argument. But the doc ain’t that way inclined

I’ve never heard it before. Genuinely never heard a ‘penny drop’ joke aimed at Jewish people but that might say more about my ignorance than the prevalence of the joke? Could you signpost me to the social usage of this joke and its
use to attack Jewish communities- I’m genuinely interested? Perhaps a PM instead of here? Thanks

"The penny has dropped that this non competitive cycle" and that "this squad is way off"
Has to be a step in the right direction.

Not wishing to get involved, but was it not a reference to Levy focused on costs?

Prob better to delete it, but my own read was that it was not anti-Semitic

So you’re telling me you shell out a shit-ton of money for Conte, during the hiring process you presumably agree with him when he says the squad needs improvement/promise funds for recruitment, and then after all that you go crawling to Joe asking for more money because that wasn’t mentioned previously to him?

Mate, I didn't see it as anything anti-semetic, just a joke about Levy being tighter than a Scotsman. :cautious:

With most clubs I’d agree with your incredulity. But we are a strange, strange club so who knows?

Tried to sound out my source on several things going on within the club and all I got in reply was ?.

I probed for some more information but again the reply was ???.

Although this post looks pretty pointless as I'm not bringing any information to the table, my source is usually open to sharing certain info and the fact they won't say anything speaks volumes.

My personal opinion from previous conversations and today's exchange is there are a lot of exciting things going on behind the scenes that are currently very sensitive.

As I've stated previously, believe it or not but Conte will be backed and as others have mentioned, "the penny has finally dropped".

I for one am very excited for what's to come ?

Joe turns 85 this year.

If he really wants to see this club achieve something he needs to invest. If it's all about the profit then sell and move on and enjoy what has been a great ride and business deal.
