Rich white man's sport clears rich white man of innapropriate behavior towards a female! Unsurprising!

Horner cleared. Imagine my shock.

They'll go on to win this year again so Horner and RB won't give a single fuck what I or anyone else thinks but it stinks of old boys club mentality.

Because people don't like him and he's white, so he must be guilty.
I doubt his skin colour came into this for anyone on the forum, can't speak for behind the scenes at Red Bull, but he's a very hard bloke to like. He strikes me as someone who doesn't need to be charismatic though, he works in engineering not entertainment, so yeah, it's hard for me to get enthusiastic about him as a person but that's not really a slight on him, just... +shrug+

His association with Red Bull is most likely why people frown in his direction - the team have ruffled enough feathers over the years in practically every sport they've got involved in, so it's not surprising their employees are viewed with a level of mistrust.

The guy is a prize narcissist, look at his reaction when RB got caught cheating! He played the woe is me card and that everyone should be nice to them cause they hadn't done anything wrong and everyone was being mean to them. F1 is an inherently rich white man sport, you can't deny that, Horner is a rich white man, it's not too much of a stretch to think the lass was more than likely paid a substantial amount of money to go away whilst they say she can appeal, and what, take on Red Bull Corp? Unlikely!

If we're going to debate the monopoly of rich white men in sports then that's a much bigger chest to open than this accusation (and ignores the massive, massive push into boxing, F1 and football from the middle east in the last few years). Yeah, he might be a narcissist, I tend to avoid declaring other people things like that because I'm not a psychologist, I have no idea what sort of criteria you'd base that diagnosis on other than media reports and I don't trust them generally.

Yes, he might have gotten away with something rotten but I struggle with these sort of accusations being aired in public because once it's said out loud, the accused is already tainted whether they are guilty or not. The technicalities are not the public's business but, lets assume that the investigation was legit - just for a minute - and the outcome was correct, he did nothing inappropriate and the accusation was false, changes nothing. That will hang over him, like a little asterix "once accused of..."

If she has a legitimate complaint she can go to the police - sorry if that sounds mean but the option is there but, instead, she went to the company's head office for some reason. The whole thing sucks but it's none of my business.

Race. Get on with it.

Early days, but FP1 looks promising.

FP2 will be more representative of quali times - so lets see how the teams stack up.

But Red Bull, Mercedes, and Ferrari all running very close together. McLaren's look a little bit back, and locked into a battle with the Baby RB team - which is sure to light a fire under Zak Brown who has been chirping about too much collaboration between the RB teams.

Looks like Ricci is enjoying the RB Jnr car in practice and, while the McLaren might be a bit underwhelming right now, remember they did most of their learning during the races - once the season started last year, they were noticeably improving at a much faster rate than others.

Testament to Norris & Piastri? Giving them some proper feedback under race conditions etc - have to wait and see.

Totally expect Red Bull to be underpowering the car but, even if they aren't, Max will still pull it around that circuit and then just complain he only finished half a lap ahead of 2nd place.

Red bull have to be sandbagging or something, but this does look promising
I think the speculation is in the other direction - Mercedes have turned the engine mode up.

That could end to more reliability issues for the Mercs, but they needed to do something to close the gap.

Red Bulls seem to have better race pace than the field.

But hopefully a mixed up starting grid makes for better racing, and more teams fighting the Red Bulls for positions.

Post-show on F1TV -> Sam Collins suggests that the Red Bulls did have the engine dialed down, as did the Baby RBs - so he expects a big boost tomorrow at Quali.

Red Bull fucked up.

I already lost most of my interest when Raikkonen retired, not sure why I still care especially after that season ending in 2021. So many unlikeable people in that sport and so much controversy and cheating. Nowadays I'm mostly interested in seeing how some youngsters develop I guess.

Not sure if it's the impact of the Netflix series of an intense dislike for Verstappen but I really enjoyed following the progress of McLaren & Aston Martin teams last year (mainly Norris & Alonso)
