I can't remember the last time so many drivers were getting repeated warnings (and now five second penalties) for track limits, not even halfway through the race.

It's too late for common sense to prevail here.

Feel like the stewards are being a bit too strict and nit picky.

Surely it’s down to the driver to stay on track, they’ve been tight on it since Friday
Visibility at this track isn't simple and its even more restricted with the new cars, mainly the the piece above the front tires.

Are they going over the curb (no longer on it) or is it if they have a full tier on the curb it's track limits? Seems very close!

I think its all four tires off the track that's the issue, I don't think they can judge properly where the white line is.

It is but I think we are in a situation where everyone is doing it because they can’t see they are going over the line. So it’s a bit over the top to be penalising everyone. Just let them race.

Austria is such a shitter of a circuit, especially with all the boundary rules in place. Awful visibility, tightening corners on crests, curbs with teeth, it must be a nightmare to drive. Fun race though, credit to everyone for making it entertaining.

Sainz is so unlucky, this is ridiculous.
Wouldn’t be surprised to see Leclerc have an issue too.

I was driving, listening to the race on the radio, and when they said Sainz had conked out I was 100% expecting to hear all the other drivers on their engines to start having issues, glad that wasn't the case. Great image of him jumping out of the burning car though - it looked like a fluid fire? Splashed along the side pod? Very red, very cool. Another excellent drive from Russell as well, improving every time he goes out.

And Haas need to be drug tested, love what they're doing with that team. They made the most of the free practice, looked good in quali and have delivered a superb result. Tikaboo, Haas-chaps.

The engine actually exploded, blew a few pieces out of the body which was where the fire could be seen.

This kind of reminded me of two F1 anomalies from this race.

The Mercs finished 3 and 4 - which on the face, is a great finish, even allowing for the DNFs from Perez and Sainz. But, it ignores that they were 30 and 45 seconds behind the leader so not really a factor.

And with Russell - I disagreed with the Stewards' penalty for causing the incident with Perez - but, if you accept the Stewards' ruling, then a 5-second penalty is nothing, compared to putting the other driver out of the race. I think if the stewards make a ruling that you caused a crash that put a competitor out of the race, the penalty should be steeper than 5-seconds... (admittedly Perez was not immediately out of the race, but he clearly suffered more than a 5-second delay)

Was a pretty tense moment in real time because he was on a hill the car wouldn’t stay still and was rolling back without his foot on the breaks.
