So much hate for Max, why? He’s a nice guy

Some people watch F1 for the racing, some for the crashes, but evidence suggests that there's some who tune in just in the hope to see Red Bull/Max fail. He's not a nice guy, he's a racer. Lewis isn't a nice guy either, he's a twat, but If you're a nice guy then you don't win shit.

I post my opinion and I get a disagree - Going by previous form, there's a very high chance that it's because I said it was a shame Red Bull's cars died, while others will just post one line, repeating some insult and they get back slaps. It's a bit of a wee cult, but there you go (y) :D

Re-watching some of the highlights, that back and forth between Leclerc and Max really was superbly entertaining, I was enjoying the racing, and Perez had driven a pretty solid race up until it was taken out of his hands, but you can't take anything away from Ferrari and Leclerc.

Those three laps in the middle stint were some of the best racing I’ve seen in F1 for many years. Massive credit to Leclerc coming back so effectively after being taken on the first corner three times in a row.

I think the Max hate is a combination of his driving style (far too aggressive) mixed with his sense of entitlement and crying whenever he takes himself out of a race after one of his aggressive moves.

Add in the fact he was also the beneficiary of one of the biggest stitch ups in modern F1 history.

I’m firmly in the “anyone but Redbull camp” now.
Up until the safety car yesterday I was 100% rooting for the Ferraris...if Mercedes aren’t competitive this season that’s where my support will be going.

I cannot stand Redbull because of the Spice boy, I cannot stand Max because of his personality, listening to him on the radio getting increasingly upset and crying was fucking great.

was listening to him post-race - he intentionally conceded the 1st corner to Max each time - so that he (Leclerc) would have DRS entering the 2nd zone, which gave him what he needed to retake the position with relative ease.

And each time Verstappen went for it he took more life out of his new soft tires. Was excellent race craft from Leclerc.

Thought Schumacher would get some points after safety car but he will win points, with actually a decent car this year, eventually for sure.

I think its a little weird that we don't really know what happened to the Red Bulls - given how vague they have been, and that it happened to both cars at almost the same time, I wonder if they simply ran out of fuel.

I saw some comments that Red Bull did not do a full race test during the testing/practice, and I wonder if they simply miscalculated the fuel needed for a full run. On the radio, they said they knew what the issue was, and it was not the battery, but then post-race, "looks like an issue in the fuel system" for both cars.

If it was a fuel pump issue, as some have speculated, - I think that is a spec part, and everyone would be all over that to make sure its not an issue for their car (not to mention it would be very odd for that to fail on two cars from the same team, at the same time).

If both cars had similar issues, it could be a matter of manufacturing the part that didn't hold up. I'm sure it'll be a quick fix for them. I don't know if there are rules regarding swapping out fuel pump parts like there are rules with the power unit changes.

Didn't Max get his back to the pits though?

Don't they have the 2nd pit stall? He probably could have coasted to the pits from when he pulled in.

Its just seems odd that a spec part - delivered to all teams - failed on two cars from the same team, at the same time.

Great race yesterday. Settled down at times while teams managed tires etc, but had some great moments.

On the new formula, so far looking good. Cars coming out of corners could hang on to the back of the other car with ease. Some tracks this will still be an issue, but on the whole looking like they might have got the new regs right after 12 years of trying.

It looks like the big limiting factor may well be the brakes and tires. Cooling the brakes seems to be an issue for many teams, not including the big issues teams like McLaren and Williams are having with them. I imagine working around the new wheel covers has a lot to do with this.

And the tyres, well it looks like they performed quite well, but fall off a cliff performance wise quite suddenly. + these were a step harder all round than we usually see in Bahrain, and it was still a 2/3 stopper.
I don't think either of those things are a bad thing by themselves, I just worry that teams will work out that the best strategy long term is to manage the tires to stop them reaching that cliff and bring them into a window for a one stop, which will deffo hurt the racing.

Was amazed at the lack of grip when Hamilton pulled out of the pits on the hard’s and there were a few drivers zig zagging on pit exit to try and get some heat into them.

You could see a few teams change their strategy to a 3-stop when they saw how quickly the tyres were degrading.

Hamilton's issue with the hards is that the heat wraps that are meant to keep the tyres up to temp have had their allowed temperature decreased this season.

The Sky commentary team even sad F1 were looking at removing them altogether which might cause even more fun on out laps.
