Hamilton has 3 more titles than Hunt, Mansell, Hill and Button combined.

He also now has as many titles as Jim Clark, Graham Hill and Jackie Stewart put together. Different era and Clark probably would have won more if he hadn’t passed away when he did. Still, great achievement.

Ouch Albon. With three races to convince Red Bull he has anything to contribute, that one has to hurt. In more ways than one.

When was the last time a car caught fire like that?

I'm glad he's OK.

I wish Grosjean all the best in his recovery but he needs to leave Formula 1 and move very, very far away from it.

Dangerously incompetent driver.

Think that's the biggest crash I've ever seen live. Absolutely remarkable how he's survived that let alone walked away pretty much unscathed.

He just veered across the track for some reason:

Yeah tbf from that angle it does look like an unnatural movement. I shouldn’t judge him on his past misdemeanours and obviously wish him all the best. I think a break away from F1 is needed, though. Nasty accident.

It looked a big crash as it happened, wasn't until later when they showed the car you could see how big, don't think I have seen a car split in 2 like that since all the safety regulations came in!

That was one horrendous crash not sure what he was doing pulling across the pack but thankfully looks like he’s fine.

That’s fucking nasty, I’m glad he’s safe. F1 hasn’t seen a crash like that in a long time. Reminiscent of Ronnie Peterson at Monza in 1978.

Hamilton to miss next race as now has covid.

Also can someone explain how Bottas went from second to 6th (I think) at the start of the race, but at the restart he was 4th?

Mercedes and Williams have agreed for George Russell to drive in Hamilton place due to Covid.

Will be amusing to watch if Russell beats Bottas  would like to see him in that car next to Hamilton in a season or two's time.

Brundle and Croft explained this on Sky's coverage. The race technology tracks each car during the race (it's how they show the relative track positions of the cars). They can therefore determine the exact positions of each runner the second the red flag is 'thrown', thus negating any overtaking before the cars get back to the pits.

So Bottas was fourth when the red was thrown, but passed by two cars before they got back to the pits. Other drivers were similarly promoted or relegated before the restart.

I think Russell has passed his audition today. 3 days in a car, matched Bottas in quali, showed he can handle starts, safety car restarts and move up the field if needed.

Gutted for him, but any doubts about his potential for the 2022 seat and whether he deserves the chance were squashed today.
