So our new manager openly talked about wanting another defender, the only position he openly talked about wanting and we couldn't do it.

Our TEAM is better than it was last year.

Plus I thought Ange was meant to be good at bringing youngsters through, I bet Brighton would give Donley and Dorrington minutes

We needed two first squad cb's and Phillips is not that.
Neither Dier, nor Davies are quick enough for our new style and Big Dav just isn't good enough.
So we've pretty much left ourselves with two decent cb's and then a massive drop off in quality.

On the whole, yes, the window has been pretty good as we've got some real talents in but there's a gaping hole in the back line depth.

Because people think the new system replaces Kane and don't seem to consider that the new system could have included Kane. It wasn't one or the other.

Which is what I alluded to before and would find that totally and utterly fucking baffling!

......unless turning this into a positive which I know isn't the vibe here but maybe Dorrington has impressed enough to be deemed ready to be in the mix.

Still a gamble for a club with aspirations of ours and not nearly displaying enough ambition.

Would be a goodish window had kane stayed. Finally addressed a couple of glaring weaknesses in CM and CB. Squad still a little thin but eh.

This with Kane leaving is very average IMO.

He was absolutely right to leave. It'll never change.

Edit: selling Dav on top would be wilful negligence.
