The Gallagher links really worry me.

Not because I don't rate him - think he's decent, probably an upgrade on PEH, helps our HG quota, and probably has a high ceiling and is only 23.

My concern is that it's deadline, Chelsea typically do not sell to us, and I can see them dragging it out until 10pm and then pulling the plug to shaft us.

If it's a position we're determined to recruit for if PEH leaves, then I at least hope Gallagher is not the only option we're looking at.

£50m feels like a massive overpay for Brennan Johnson but at the same time it's a very solid move. Young, pacey and good shooting off both feet. Should be a squad mainstay for many years and one less HG position to worry about. Just hope Ange can take him to the next level.

I just wish we could have used the Kane money to bring in someone that could be a bonfide starter in our attack.

Have zero confidence in us bringing in requisite quality in at CB today though...

That makes total sense tbf.
Not for the CB it doesn't. Dier is barely part of the squad, which means that with Tanganga leaving, our CB options are essentially Romero, VDV, Sanchez (who we're actively trying to shift) and Davies as a makeshift CB.

Paulinha for £55m is an absolute steal. He's obviously going to choose Bayern but we should at least be asking the question, better than Rice IMO
Definitely not for me, i appreciate what Paulinha does, but it's in no way anything like what Bissouma does (or Bentancour would do as a 6) and not what we would need imo

So you think we need two in if we sell Sanzhez?

Not based on anything concrete or specific, but lots of little snippets that have come my way point to Brennan Johnson today. Fingers crossed.

In fact, cross everything. Including that hand held vadge you've got hidden from your mum in that shoebox at the back of your sock drawer. PS: She knows about it. That's ITK gold right there.

Meh. It's my dad I'm worried about :cautious:

We need to just be ruthless here if Dier (in the eyes of the club) is holding up recruiting in the CB area.
Dier is well aware he won’t be in the team this year if he stays. From his perspective, would rather not play this year and pick his club as a free transfer opposed to moving and locking himself in at a club like Bournemouth. How are you proposing to be ruthless?

Might as well just terminate his contract. If he's holding up transfers then pay him off now. It's blatantly clear he's not in our plans and he wants to be a free agent so just take the hit and do it now.

Otherwise we'll end up paying him anyway for the next 12 months and not playing him.

Absolutely will do this, they have ZERO reason to sell to us.

If we can get him, Johnson and a cb in. Whilst shifting 3/4 more. It’d been a blinding window & a lot of us would have to hold hands up! Me included.

100% Chelsea screw us, even when they aren’t intending to.
