Ange has said himself the targets are "nothing to do with him" until they're advanced. Gallagher was the only target that he wanted himself.
Eh? Pretty sure his press conference was him scoffing at the idea of signings that weren't players he wanted.

Id like to see us go in for Sancho in Jan, I think Ange system gets him back to his Dortmund form

Not too sure he'd be a natural fit in this system. Bit like Kulusevski in that I think he has pretty good technical ability and good feet but maybe missing that serious ability to consistently really beat a man/get in behind and stretch teams. There is a player there however imo and if the right manager can get hold of him and help get his mindset right and confidence back, he could flourish.

In the main, I think the the EPL is becoming quite a difficult league to operate in for wide players who don't possess real acceleration/pace imo. However that being said, think Sancho has the ability to be a Grealish type player imo. Not got super acceleration/pace to worry defenders too much but he has quick feet. One thing Grealish has is that he is deceptively strong imo and hard to knock off the ball which combined with his dribbling skills and ability to shift direction make him a real problem to deal with. I could see a happy, confident Sancho develop into a similar kind of player.

As I posted mid way through last week, it's my understanding he didn't ask for any of those we got in specifically. He told our player identification bods what he wanted, what skill sets they needed, and then they came up with a shortlist which he either yay or neighed. Now he may well have then put them into an order of preference following being given that list, but I'm very confident he didn't make any actual requests for players. FWIU Maddison is a slight exception in that I believe he was pretty much nailed on to come anyway before Ange was appointed and we were just waiting for whomever came in to green light it, which it obviously was.

Ange pretty much confirmed all this in his press conference prior to Burnley.

I figure saying Gallagher is one he wanted was a little shout out to the player so when January comes he knows where he'll be appreciated when Chelsea put him on the market.

Thanks Trix. The process sure seems to have worked this summer. The team is revitalised with the fresh blood, hopefully we continue in this manner and don't make unnecessary changes that fucks things up again.

Another positive trait to Ange, he wants certain types of players, and will accept the clubs suggestions if they fit his wishes, whereas Conte obviously preferred certain players.

I get that this is true, but why do we need to have this push to try and make it Ange players or not Ange players? Just feels really unhelpful. Ange has been very clear about having final say on everyone, the recruitment team are working off his ideas for the team and profiles.

I’m struggling to see one reason to sell Sanchez that isn’t money related.
The same reasons that existed before the window closed. Nothing has changed really. He's still ultimately not wanted, he's got a year or two on his contract. Leaves us slightly exposed, but I think we'll be fine.

A Turkish journo saying that Gala have agreed personal terms with both players. How reliable, who knows.

If Romero is injured we have Philips a young 18 year old to come in if Sanchez isn’t available. That is more than slightly exposed, that is taking a big risk. This is a very clear case of will the club put the interests of the football first or money first.

I think Davies would likely come in first tbh, but Phillips on the bench on Saturday speaks a lot.

Davies isn’t that suitable, in Ange’s system it requires fast defenders good at one against one. Davies is an ok player but this isn’t his skillset. Philips might be closer but that is a huge risk. Sanchez is the closest we have to someone who can do this even if he is far from perfect. I just don’t see the reason to gamble the squad like this.

Selling Sanchez at this point in time seems a little negligent. Although not of the quality we need long term he is the only other defender quick enough to play a high line in this system.

Would seem a strange one.
