How much would he cost? £15m? They signed him for something like £3.5m didn't they?

I'd take him for £15m, wouldn't think twice personally. I was very impressed when he came and played at the Lane in the 1-1 draw.

Also the Mirror running some story about Man Utd making £22m bid for Modric. It's rubbish (as you probably know) SAF knows it would take a LOT more for Daniel to even pick up the phone.

Well I received an email when he was left out of England squad saying he isn't happy and blames Chelsea.

Got one late last night that I've just seen saying expect interest in Sturridge to ramp up with us, Liverpool and City.

Just wondered if anyone else heard this?

Think he needs to blame playing like Defoe on a bad day for the last 6 months of the season for not being in the England squad (losing out to the, not much better, Defoe on a mediocre day).

AVB seemed to utilise him well though

89 days? Fuck me that sounds like a long time.

I think the transfer window should only be open for 5 days. I think that's about all we can sensibly take on here.

I'm pretty sure Levy thinks it only is open for 5 days given our usual forays. ;)

According to wiki his final transfer fee was £6.5 million due to clauses being met

Not quite sure where he'd fit in at Spurs though. His best position seems to be on the left or right of a front three, and we have Bale and VdV in those positions. He certainly can't play upfront on his own so if he wanted to play as a striker we'd have to go 4-4-2 which causes issues with VdV and the midfield.

Would be a great option, but not someone we can build a team around, and it sounds like that's what he wants for himself.

Same role as we are looking at Remy for I'd imagine.

Right of the 3 in a 4-2-3-1 (in place of Lennon) and 3rd choice #9.

I think if they sign Hulk he won't be needed and imo Hulk is just a glorified Sturridge who happens to be very one dimensional when on the left wing

He is right in blaming Chelsea as he was dropped so that they can defend for 90 mins or more but the major issue would be wages as he is on £60k a week atm

I think Sturridge is worth £60k a week. He's a good player with bags of potential and being played regularly is better than say Defoe, who must be on £60K himself.

Chelsea won't use him at all now they have Hulk, they are basically the same sort of player, although Hulk has been more effective (of course whether he brings that form into the PL is another question).

Interesting

Talking of little strikers..........heard from a mate that runs the air charter for the FA that Defoe is on his way home from Poland as his dad died last night

Very sad if true

According to wikipedia Sturridge is 6'2", hardly little.

Agreed. I think he is flexible enough to cover out on the left and even up front in case of injury crisis too.

Sturridge will not move to a club that will not play up through the centre. There has been a lot of talk that he doesn't like playing in an advanced attack role, he wants to be a striker so he won't play in the remyesque role

Only problem I can see with Sturridge is the fractious relationship between the clubs because of the Modric affair last summer.

Or indeed simply refusing to talk about Sturridge unless Modric is on the table too.

A lot of Neo-Toff fans tell me he doesn't track back enough to play on the right-left side of an attacking 3.

I don't think Chelsea are after Modric anymore given their new signings, could be wrong though...

But i do agree that our relationship with them might make things a bit tricky, but then at the same time if they want rid of Sturridge and we pay the right price (unlikely) then it could happen.

In addition, he's stated he wants to play up front. No thanks, I think we can do better.
