Yes please. I think he should be our primary target instead of Negredo. Reminds me very much of Llorente in his formative years.

Never watched him but it's interesting that he spent the formative years of his development at Madrid. Must have a little technique to go with his height.

We're playing brinkmanship with Schalke over a few hundred K for Holtby. I can't see us spending upwards of £20mill, on the fee alone, for someone like William.

That's just what Levy does though, tries to get the best value out of a deal, playing the long game right up until the last day of the window.

My view is that he'll go back in for Willian this week and see try to get a better deal. If not then, yeah, we won't sign him.

I've just got a feeling that Willian wants to come and Shakhtar might just be prepared to let him go, especially given the length if time he's got left to run on his contract.

We'll see...

And yes, I also rate myself as an optimistic person :)

Ah god please not Szalai.

He only scores when the manager pushes him in the media. Imo not worth the money they will demand (wouldn't pay more than 5m€)

Are you sure? we don't have a sterling record with primary targets. I can imagine that Roman A. just got a hard on when you typed that. Let's make him 3rd choice. Much safer chance we'll get him

There's a lot of talk of this "leftfield" addition. We've seen it in the past, and if we get Holtby + Negredo + Leftfield Player I'd imagine it'd be quite the coup.

Here's to hoping it's Son.

Cameron Lancaster, Jonathan Obika.

Same trick, different manager

Same result (cheapo loan, Saha) or different result (Negredo)

My personal opinion is that Belhanda is the "best bang for the buck" type of player.....we get him and for sure we will have more composure and creativity in our squad. Dembele + Belhanda behind Holtby with Bale and Lennon on the flanks can only lead to better chances...another striker would just be a cherry on top-fox in the box.;)

I don't think we are likely to sign Belhanda and Holtby. They are not identical, but both play a similar position right now for their clubs and I think it unlikely we'd spend money buying two players based on them both fundamentally occupying the same position.

Belhanda is a bit more deft of touch, a little more subtle, but I like the little I've seen of Holtby, I hope we bring him in sooner because we desperately need someone who can play in the final third. Can't see both - even if technically they could both be accommodated.

Very nice ideas for a left field player........but let's be honest, many of Levy's last few leftfielders have become persistent jokes that can get you neg repped, they are so overplayed. For every VDV, we have a few Campbells and Raziaks. I am much more confident in players that have been on our radar for ages. But here's hoping to a Belhanda.

So are we going to get Daniel 'leftfield' Levy or Daniel 'letdown' Levy? This window will determine his boxing nickname for years to come.

Inter are heavily interested in Belhanda and were negotiating a deal for him whilst doing the Coutinho deal. However, I think he is backup for if they don't complete the Paulinho deal with Corinthians.
