Benteke isn't going to be the man to make up the nineteen points that we finished behind Man Ure AFTER a record points haul season. He could be the man who helps to get us another nine or ten though. I'd expect at least fourth given the money that Levy is spending so far (assuming Benteke is nailed on) but anything better would be a huge, huge bonus to us.

How much do they lose with fergie?

Does it not partially neutralise our new CF though if we don't have anyone who can thread a pass to him?

In the player thread, there are some decent reports on Chadli from people who have actually watched him a fair bit, and they say his strength is his end product, be it shot on goal, or his ability to pick a pass.

Changing the topic slightly. Regarding Greyfox's ITK, I personally hope it's Naughton going rather than Rose. If Naughton goes, we still have Smith to maintain our depth and balance, however Rose going would leave is in the same situation as last year, no depth at LB, putting a right footer over there or a CD if our LB is injured, square peg & round hole. As someone said above, to be competitive, you need genuine depth.

What the hell will we do in August???
I've heard about a radical new strategy called "pre-season training".
Apparently you get the team together and work out, get this, tactics to deal with set pieces and corners (among other things)!

Can you imagine it? I reckon it'll revolutionise football if it catches on.
Can't see it myself - what's wrong with "just run about a bit" in a different country?

Presumably Bernard isn't the only player who can pass to a striker. There are quite likely players that are significantly cheaper yet can pass the ball very well.

Imagine if we actually have our team for next season sorted early enough that we can actually work on corners and set pieces in pre-season. That would be incredible. If we actually know what we're doing with them next season from early I could honestly see us winning the league.

Would be happy to see any one of them on our left side (Pjanic, Eriksen etc.). Chadli though just seems far too direct for what we need.

I would be interested to see exactly what info the ITK's have.

Is it a deal we have agreed in principle with Villa or one we merely have felt out with them and 'expect' them to accept it.
