Imagine if we actually have our team for next season sorted early enough that we can actually work on corners and set pieces in pre-season. That would be incredible. If we actually know what we're doing with them next season from early I could honestly see us winning the league.

You know, actually scoring from set pieces could actually get us an extra 10 points in principle.

I would be interested to see exactly what info the ITK's have.

Is it a deal we have agreed in principle with Villa or one we merely have felt out with them and 'expect' them to accept it.

Well before JJ rudely pipped me to posting ;) only joking mate :)

i was gona post this:

I was told by Biatch we have been speaking to Aston Villa and we have a deal they have said they will accept in princible, not official yet as we havnt finalised it. No price of yet i will try to find out tommorrow.
But and its a BIG BUT!! They have not finalised it yet! We could still have this go wrong if any little thing is wrong!

- But with JJ saying it is done i feel it has moved on since.

Being able to defend them competently would help out a lot too. Having our squad sorted early rather than deadline day will be a blessing, though it would deny Levy of his favourite time of the year. He'll probably splurge on someone on deadline day anyway just for the sake of it.

Isn't this what happened with lloris but when the paperwork came through there were a few pounds missing on the official offer from that of the verbal agreement?

I think it was so late in the day that Lyon sold him at the lesser offer.

Typical Danny boy.

Does Benteke still have to serve the final two games of his suspension for the red card he got against Chelsea last year or is that forgiven as the season ended?

The Villa mongrels still going to hold out for £30mill + and anything below is 'daylight robbery'. I can't wait to see the meltdown IF we sign him and the price is below £20 mill or something.

I think what you're saying and JJ said sound exactly the same.

This is obviously a good thing but when you consider that unlike a million and one other transfers, ahem Leandro, there aren't any 3rd party deals, agents crawling out of the woodwork etc etc.

We have to agree one thing with Villa: the price and if that's done, he's ours.

Wonder if Benteke in signals Defoe AND Ase staying.
If we spunk our cash on Benteke we still need 2 other strikers and i dont see us still affording another striker on top, even with the money from any sale.

Could be wrong, but i see it as the front being finalised and any other money from sales or under the sofa being for a Bernard type player and or a LB.

Nice to see some itk tonight though! Thanks to you all.

It was double yellow against Chelsea so he misses just one game.

Would be happy to see any one of them on our left side (Pjanic, Eriksen etc.). Chadli though just seems far too direct for what we need.

Fair enough. I've never seen Eriksen playing on the left, not that I've seen that many games of his full stop, to be honest.

My personal opinion on all this talk is that we'd be in danger of shoe-horning these so called creative players on to the left wing. I think the way we'll set up will surprise a lot of people judging by the scramble for anyone deemed a "creative player". I think that we'll be playing more direct than some think and that Dembele and Paulinho will create plenty between them.

As for Bernard, the reason I like him is that I see him as an all rounder, he's just as likely to make a defence splitting run as he is to make a defence splitting pass, can just as easily go wide and put in a good cross as he can cut inside and test the 'keeper. Maybe I'm reading the wrong people's posts but the idea I get from some people is that they expect us to be reliant on Bernard(if he signed) for his passing.

Would be a terrible move and I imagine AVB wants to all-change the strike force - if we do get benteke and he gets injured then we will be in the exactly the same shitty position as last season with ade/defoe.

Wages is clearly the issue at the club. Benteke + a youth player such as Vydra, Volland, Rodrigo, Vietto, Gabbiadini could quite easily equal Ade's wages. Transfer fees can be broken up into yearly segments over a players contract to be subsidised by TV and sponsorship.
