Interesting that PoTL expressed it the same way. Maybe AVB and Holtby have had a chat about his role in the upcoming season, because he looked a little lost last season.

I remembered he played LW in one of the game....

Agree that there are many differences. Still, I took the 'Modric situation' ITK to mean that the player wants to leave but the club refuses to sell. The caveat this time seems to be that we will sell if we get a 'ridiculous' bid e.g. 100k plus

As for Bale training alone and all parties saying silent - there seems to be a mutual agreement to minimise disruption until the window closes. We don't want to disrupt the squad, having learned from Modric and Berba fiascos. Player doesn't want to tarnish his brand while deal is still possible.

Just my onion, trying to create a narrative that makes sense for me :)

Yep. And that's why I think he's off. The fact is, every player is for sale if a truly 'ridiculous' offer comes in. If Chelsea bid a ridiculous amount for Modric in 2011 (say, £70m: obviously ridiculous) then we'd have sold. No doubt about it. If we really are putting it out there that we'll deal at a ridiculous price for Bale, then that indicates that the board are actively considering a sale.

Regarding capoue there's an interview on spurs tv with him. It was obviously filmed last week as they are showing him training with us already!

His English is good as well.

Hmm....regarding Holtby.

I can't see us keeping Carroll in amongst the squad if we are going for Eriksen. Still think Carroll would be best served going on loan to get consistent game time.

Yep. Could do worse than send him down to Swansea,he'd fit in perfectly there and would only pick up good habits.

I agree with Villas Boas about Holtby, but not quite sure why we've then signed Capoue.
Because Capoue will be competition in the DM slot with Sandro, Holtby and Dembele will compete for a play maker slot, leaving Siggy and Paulinho to contest the box-to-box role would be my opinion.

With Capoue now signed, sealed and delivered, it will be interesting who we switch attention to next.

I can't see Lamela being a deadline day special so he's got to figure highly but I'm yet to be convinced our interest in Coentrao is genuine or that we stand to have a realistic chance of getting him.

Don't think we've heard the last of Chiriches and as for Halilovic, his Dad holds the key to whether we pull the deal off or not.

Capoue makes absolute perfect sense with Hudd, Livermore and (likely) Parker departing.

Not sure why anyone wouldn't recognise this.

If nothing else the signing of capoue takes the pressure off Sandro and will allow him to be brought back to full fitness taking greater care, also will allow dembele to be deployed further forward

I think that shows how far behind we are with knowing what the club are up to. Who knows how far along they might be with the next signing!

I agree with Villas Boas about Holtby, but not quite sure why we've then signed Capoue.

I suppose the idea is that we have one out and out defensive midfielder, one box to boxer and one who is better on the ball.

In that setup, I suppose we have two DMs (Sandro and Capoue), two boxtoboxers (Paulinho and Holtby) and two who are better on the ball (Dembele and....Sigurdsson? Carroll?).

With Sandro out last season we looked bereft of presence in midfield so it makes sense to have another option there. Plus if Capoue really can play centre back then that's an added bonus. I definitely think there's room for him in the squad.

Siggy box to box role?!!

To be honest i really dont see where Siggy fits in our system. He's a poor VDV and nowhere near gonna fill Bales shoes ( or boots even! ) if he gets played the middle. He flatters to deceive every time i see him. Not title contender at all! I didn't realise he was still on the pitch till the 89th min saturday!

€110M plus £17M they still owe for Modric is a lot of exposure to Real Madrid if they were declared bankrupt. Unlikely & improbable I know, but just putting it into perspective as it would equal approx 1/7 of our total value as a club

Correct but in business and with that level of potential debt only a fool would assume that nothing could go wrong....
