SC is not twitter. If they're getting abusive tweets, take it up with twitter ladies.

That these are grown people is embarrassing enough. Somebody just order them each a fucking great big cross and they can nail themselves to them. Do this whole martydom thing properly. Leave the ITK stuff to others. If you have info you can pass on, pass it on. If you start fingering yourselves whilst tweeting cryto "I know sumfink youz dunno, I'm thooooooooooo hornay right now", expect to be called a bellend by a few people now and then.

You thir thyould be a public thpeaker.

I find mythelf thtwangely attwacted to you!

I would be very happy if we were to sign Son.

Lots of potential from what ive seen.

Cant help but think though - save the money and give Townsend a run in the team!!

he got raped pretty hard by big strong wingers

kinky
As did anyone who played on our left side for about 2 yrs. If a club, as a collection of individuals, could suffer a collective stroke, then we did. Painful to watch at times.

he looks good but Townsend is pretty good cover to Azza

not sure why we would need him

Townsend may turn into a good winger but he's never going to be a massive goal threat. Heung-min can give us something we lack in terms of goals from the wing and cover for the striking positions.

Besides we need more than just Townsend to cover for Bale and Lennon. There will be a time when both are injured.

Heung-min sounds like he's our Zaha alternative tbh.

We could actually reuse the old Cyril Knowles song here,

'nice one Heing Myn, nice one Son (see what I did there)
Nice one Heung Myn, let's have another one.'

Already called the Taxi ........ Chill

You were beaten to it a couple of pages back mate. ;)

There's no problem with having Townsend as cover on the left, Son being cover on the right as well as the potential to slot into the 2nd striker role in the 4-4-2 or as a CF should he continue to develop and get stronger.

We don't really have the most natural of cover at RW should Lennon go down, and Townsend, while he has done a decent job on the right, is simply better on the left.

Just from what I've seen (as much as most of you have, haven't seen any Hamburg matches this season but getting the Dortmund match at the moment), Son looks like a good fit for AVB's preferred 4-3-3 as he is most dangerous on his left foot, but he isn't far behind using his right. It's a bit similar to how he used Hulk on the right. Both options being open in regards to cutting in and taking shots on the favored left or drifting out and sending crosses in with the right. His apparently good acceleration and creativity looks like he could turn into a quality winger.

Yeah im all for getting Son if we can!

I just think it must be demoralising for some our youth players on the fringes of the first team when these new players come in.

I would like Tottenham to have the best team possible

but i would also like Carroll, Townsend, iago make the step up.

Well it's mandatory to do a certain amount of military service in South Korea. You'd hope that if they can cope with that they can cope with those things. Not sure whether they do their service at the beginning or end of their careers though.

Normally, I believe Korean footballers do their service either when they're still young i.e. 18 to 21, or when they're in their prime, around 28 or so. However, if you win an Olympic medal, the team are excused from service requirements. The team that reached the final four in the 2002 World Cup were exempt as well (Park Ji-Sung), and anyone who hasn't received a full middle school education is also exempt (Lee Chung-Yong). As part of the bronze-winning Olympics team, Son is exempt from military service (along with Ki Sung-Yong, Park Ju-Young, Ji Dong-Won). So he can play football in Europe until he's 40 if he likes.

Just from what I've seen (as much as most of you have, haven't seen any Hamburg matches this season but getting the Dortmund match at the moment), Son looks like a good fit for AVB's preferred 4-3-3 as he is most dangerous on his left foot, but he isn't far behind using his right. Son is actually naturally right-footed. He says he's practiced his left foot since he was a kid though (father is a football coach), so his left is equally as effective as his right.

Like others have already said, he can play on either flank, in the center as an AM or striker, is pacey and can shoot with both feet. He cuts in regularly, which suits AVB's preferred tactics and generally is a hard worker. Over the past few years, his consistency was a bit on and off, but that's to be expected for all young players. He's gotten far more consistent this season, and I think his goal tally already matches that of last season, if I'm not mistaken. Good player, one of the future stars of Korean football (one of very few, tbh), and most importantly, Shirt sales will soar if he signs for Spurs! I can guarantee you that! Plus you can expect some sort of sponsorship deal from a large Korean company (notice how QPR have partnered with Nexon now? Huge Korean game company, all thanks to Park Ji-Sung!) so yeah, there are definitely financial aspects to explore, if desired.

As a Korean footie fan, what can I say? Sign him up, Levy!

Son would be a great signing. From what I've seen, I'm not even sure there is much to pick over between his left and his right. He has scored a fair number of goals from outside the box with his right as well. I'm surprised I hadn't considered the option before, as he is completely fitting of that RW/ST combo that we have been craving for some time.

EDIT - I have now just read the post above me, thanks fir clearing that up

Interesting stuff daehanmingook. I went out with a half Korean girl for 5 years and found myself watching a lot of South Korean international football. Ever since I've had a lot of respect for South Korean football in general. Son sounds like a decent enough player to take a risk on.

That's fine if you want [insert generic racial stereotype here] type of players but will they fancy a cold/wet/dark, December/January/February, evening/night/cup-tie, against Stoke/Bolton/Accrington Stanley [delete as necessary]?

Well?
oops!! Meant to give that the thumbs up... Ironically my ham thumb hit the wrong icon!! Sorry, mate!

I agree, but in the forward positions our players are starting to get on a bit:

Defoe is 30.
Dempsey is 30 in three months.
Adebayor is 29 in a month and apparently could be leaving soon.
Bale is young but if we're being honest, will probably leave this summer or next summer for Madrid.

That's 4 players that we need to replace in the next 2 years. Levy will look to sell our players on before their value is completely gone, as we have seen him do before.

I think the idea is that we should already have a replacement within the squad when said player moves on, enabling for a seamless transition into the team. Good examples of this smooth operation are Porto, Ajax, Shakhtar Donetsk and Borussia Dortmund. The common denominator is that all these clubs challenge at the top of their leagues and are absolutely loaded.

If we can keep this model going for a few years we will pay for our stadium without losing ground on the top teams in the league.

If any of you don't watch Bundlesliga, Son is far beyond Townsend in ball control and his apparent mental skills. He holds onto the ball very well and doesnt rush the play. He also contributes to lots of Hamburgs attack. I am not a big Townsend fan, though. I think that he would play more if the coaching staff saw more in him. At least, he should have done something while on loan all those years to make the staff believe in him. But, we wouldn't be linked to all these wingers if they thought he had the stuff, so the stafd most likely dont think he is as able as these other players.
