So is that a yay or nay for Leandro then? At this point, I'm almost switching positions from not giving a you know what if he signs or not to being slightly against it. If we get Villa and that fella from gala, we'll have really bolstered our striking ranks. Add Ade into the mix and get a decent wedge for JD and bob's your father's brother.

You mean, does he actually exist, or is he a collective mass delusion?

That's where Bernard comes in. That kid needs to be in our kit before september 1st!

Da Silva and Bernard aren't goal scorers. It seems we are going 4-3-3. With a strong three who in the middle who won't get more than ten goals between them, all the front 3 need to be goalscorers. No room for creative non scoring Modric types- but hopefully Bale on one side, Villa on the the other and centre forward.

I agree, though I would think you would want a player or two in your squad who does play that way for when you need to change it up. I am not saying Bernard should be bought to fill a bench space, but options are key and AVB being able to change his tactics due prior to or during a match due to quality personnel is very important.

For example, you might want a steely midfield against a Chelsea or Man City, but you might want a more creative fluid line-up when playing Stoke for example.

You don't want just 11 good players and like for like back-up on the bench, you want a squad that allows you to pick the most suited players for the next match... and yes that means player rotation!

I think it's the other way around. Sure, you need goalscorers as well but Bernard is a decent finisher and would probably chip in at least the same amount of goals as Lennon or more whilst also providing more assists and chances for other players. There is a reason for us not getting a single penalty during last years campaign and that is us not providing enough of a threat in the box. Lennon is great on the break but lacks decisiveness to beat his man in the box while a player like Bernard thrives in those tight spaces. We need a player like Bernard just as much as any striker and probably winger as well. Especially with the midfield three we are going for with powerful, athletic players that however lack that creative spark.

What a great group of players we are linked with. I don't think many would consider us without AVB at the helm. What a signing he was. Thankyou Levy (and lady luck)x

Huh?

Bernard scored 11 and assisted 11 last season. He's more than capable of chipping in.
