I think I can live with the situation being 'even worse than we thought' if we stand to gain close to £100mill PLUS a Madrid player in return for Bale.

Anyone who got excited the summer we signed Chris Armstrong and Ruel Fox will understand what I'm talking about.

Replacing Klinsmann with Armstrong was pretty dreadful I'll give you that, but Ruel Fox was one of my favourite players.

I don't intend to hold anything against any of them as I know it's all past on in good faith. My point being that some have held firm in their belief he will stay but other's may have buckled under the enormous media publicity that he will go.
Oh aye. Soz, didn't mean to imply you'd hold it agin 'em. Just sticking my oar in.

Just my onion, but I think Bale will stay. Madrid don't by all accounts have the money that is being mooted (especially as they still owe us loads for Modric) and we will not want this transfer paid in 10p instalments.

GB has a special relationship with AVB and I think he will want to see how we do this season with AVB's new signings. Madrid will still want him next year so it's not like he won't get the chance to move there in the future.

Also JJ, POTL, LLM and now wpd have all been positive about Bale staying and they have had good info between them over the years and recently.

Time for us to keep the faith, and for Madrid and the horse they rode in on to fuck right off.

Didn't Madrid pay the full amount up front for Ronaldo...?

Still don't see how Madrid can afford 100 mill? Rumour has it that are just as skint as the Spanish economy

LLM has said we want Coentrao as part of the Modric deal, so I don't how they are offering him as part of the Bale deal. Smells of bull to me.

Tidy little winger, even if his death-stare did unsettle me at times. Went like shit off a shiny shovel too.

Flip side of selling is we know he will most likely improve next season. If we can keep hold of him they will still crawl back next season with another obscene offer, regardless if he will have a year less left on his contract. Catch 22

Is Bale more likely to fire us into top 4 or is 3/4 more quality players?

All this conflicting ITK reminds me of when Keane left. Some ITK were certain he would stay while others certain he was going. Sadly for us at the time he left even though we all thought he was happy here. I really do hope we stand firm. Gareth Bale for me is priceless. It isn't about the money, it's about having a player of the quality we simply can't sign and will likely not see in our colours for a very long time.

I have to say I am leaning towards Bale being happy to stay one more year. I don't think he is desperate to leave, he's still very young and has a new child so wont want to unsettle his family. All the talk of him wanting to move to Madrid is coming from the Madrid end not ours. The sooner we see Bale in action the sooner we'll see his frame of mind. I really do hope to see him with a smile on his face against Monaco.

I 'm also finding the figures thrown around to be so far out of this world. It's so unrealistic and too much like a computer game to me. I can not see a bid of 90m euros or pounds plus a player being offered even for Bale. He is not worth more than Ronaldo was at United, a player who scored over 40 goals in one season. Even if it's true, as I say Bale is priceless anyway so we should turn them down flat.

We really should sell at those figures, but perhaps we can milk them for even more.

I still maintain the old switcheroo with Kenny McEvoy is a great idea.

That's actually a good point against the "Evil Agent" theories.
But, does he have the same guy taking care of his commercial deals and his career ? Just asking, I have no idea.
Bit of transparency wouldn't go amiss to help agents reputation amongst fans I suppose, the more we understood about that side the less negativity there would be.

I love Gareth Bale, I even put on facebook I love him almost as much as I love my wife when he scored the last minute winner against West Ham, but £90m plus Coentrao.

As long as the £90m doesn't include add ons for things like "£10m if Wales win the FIFA world cup", I'd have to say it's getting close to deal time if I was in charge.

Thankfully I'm not, but that is some serious money if true. Maybe Real Madrid are using wonga.com.

Interesting that AY mentions the family angle. That was a fairly big hook we were hanging our chances of GB staying on no? If his family are urging him to try and get a move this can and will change very quickly.

RM will have been tapping them up even more than GB or his agent obviously. Well, if they had even the smallest amount of intelligence they will have been.
