Morning ITK buffs.
I had a dream. Yes ITK'ers, I had a dream. And in that dream, Daniel Levy had hair. He had hair and he was one of the Beatles. They still had to sit the little shitbag on a great big stool though.
Anyway.......D'ya wanna know what he sang? Tough, because i'm going to tell you anyway.
Our very own Ringo Levy responded to the 'No Money' fracas with his version of a song call 'Can't buy me Love'
I'll buy you Moutinho my friend if it makes you feel alright
I'll sign us anyone my friend if I lowball them just right
I think I care too much for money, but money don't buy me love

I'll sign Moutinho for you if we can sell a star or two
I may not be that tall my friend but i'll cut a deal for you
I think I care too much for money, money can't buy me love

Can't buy Leandro, the eyeteekays tell us so
Can't buy Leandro, no no no, no

Say you don't need no top players and I'll be satisfied
Tell me that you want free signings instead then I won't have to lie
I think I care too much for money, money can't buy me love

Can't buy players, oh, the ITK's tell us so
Can't buy players, oh, no no no, no

Say you didn't buy no diamond lights oh my god that song was shite
Tell me that I shouldn't have sacked him or was Glenn Hoddle right?
Why the fuck did I hire Santini, cos the money was right

Of course we've got plenty of money, try not to be a fool
I'm telling everyone that we're potless, its a bargaining tool
Just you wait 'till 5 to midnight, then you'll see that i'm cool

Can't buy players
Can't buy players no no no……no

Morning all.

Personally I think money will be made available for the right player at the right time, and at the right price.

That's my onion, and I'm happy to wait and see what happens.

I agree, they don't come much more savvy than Levy, who will have a definitive business plan for stadium

I can't see him making money available for Mouts in August then saying we need it for the stadium in Jan. That feels far too make it up as you go along, which is not very DL.

It's not to say the stadium won't impact our transfer founds at times, of course it will. But for the right deal, I believe the money is there.

I put this at the end of yesterday's ITK thread but seems relevant here too:

I am not convinced on the 'no money' thing, there is always money for the right player. No money for overpriced players, perhaps.

Also not convinced that the transfer kitty is being squeezed for stadium funds. Most of the stadium would be funded by sponsorship, as yet unannounced/not agreed, but work hasn't really started either. Also, I have worked at companies where there is an operating budget for day to day aspects of the business and a capital budget for big projects. The two don't cross over, they are ringfenced and allocated well ahead of time. The operating budget would be wages and transfer fees both in and out, the capital budget would be training ground and stadium.

The new PL TV deal is worth loads, guaranteed income. That plus Spurs' income from this season, last season, sales, etc etc, we won't be skint. Spurs has always been run in a sensible way, to now not have any money would be surprising.

intriguing as to how we will do business in future - bosman style or big deals for players with sell on potential?

I believe that due to financing of the stadium building and the interset cots ythat go with it the next few years are going to see us on a very tight transfer budget. It's going to be a time of financial equilibrium where our net spending over the next few years will be limited., unfortunately much like the Arsenal effect, overall a slightly selling club.
Thankfully we are in a reasonably good place at the moment, as Levy ans Harry/Avb have got us a young squad.
We will buy [and sell] but I think he will try to keep spending under control as with the stadium coming interset could seriously damage our health.
But as a Tottenham fan, like all of us I live in hope and believe that he will still find good bargain basement players all be it maybe lesser known players, but good non the less.
Lets live in hope rather than despair, good tims are coming, the only question is when.

I'm sure we will definitely make one more signing by deadline day. I'll wait to see who it is before I kick my wife in the fanny.

The key will be if and when we receive the Bale money. Will we spend the £50 million on the team ?

the info on sneijder is true. Liverpool are in talks. wont be done quick though.
make no mistake Moutinho is the one tottenham want and they are still hopeful of geting him done.
its a bit of a stalemate at the minute but Daniel Levy will go back again.
As i said last week Negredo talked to arsenal not tottenham.
not much as changed really

A gooner friend of mine when talking about how well run we both are financially said, "I would rather we were the worst run team and top of the league". There is a grain of truth in that.

Arsenal's situation is slightly different to how Spurs envisage our new stadium. Their stadium was funded by loans. RBS I believe.

The club is funding its move to Ashburton Grove through a number of sources, including debt from banks, from money it already has and will receive in coming years from sponsors, and from the sale of surplus property, including its Highbury Stadium. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/business/4054903.stm from 2004

It seems they assumed future sponsorship as part of the package to fund the loans on the stadium. The Leeds method! Spend money you don't have yet. The deal with Emirates was under the market value, but long term. They weighed up the two and that is why I think they have been so tight in recent years. Player sales has gone back into the club, but none of the fans seem to know where! They sell players for a high price and then spend little. There have been a few allegations of profiteering by the owners and suggestions that Wenger is complicit in this. Personal bonuses for making a profit and finishing in the CL positions, not challenging for the title. A few of their fans raised this issue on 606 the other night, too.

I'd hope Spurs is different. Naming rights command a higher price that Arsenal got with Emirates. Maybe it would be sufficient for the whole project. I don't think it is right to suggest transfer dealings or player sales are driven by this.. yet, anyway.

Just need a top striker and bring Holtby in.... this will give the team some badly needed creative boost.
