Vydra had a worrying drop of form towards the end of last season, and I have to say that I just don't think he's that good.

Signing any players from the Championship is incredibly risky, the gulf in class between that league and the Prem. Cardiff won the league and they are truly awful.

If we haven't signed a striker by 31 August then, and only then, should we ever take a punt on someone like Vydra.

IMO ;)

Funnily enough my dog's called Leandro. Could this be a sign?

NO!! If your dog was called "you can buy him but he's not for sale but is for sale but is not being sold at any price but will be allowed to leave after the Copa Libertadores but only if an offer of £20mil is made even though he's not available for transfer and will not be leaving Internacional", THAT would be a sign!!

Just a question regarding ackie's info - his statements never make the RO. Is there a reason for this? he says he messages mods. Can any mods shine any light on whether we should consider him as ITK?

I was watching a video of his goals this season earlier, the vast majority of them were when he was played through one-on-one on goal. I don't really think that's the sort of striker that we're looking for and I think he'd struggle against teams who park the bus on the edge of their penalty area against us.

He does look like a good finisher though.

McCarthy was the one mentioned by an ITK previously

Cheers mill. I only asked because people have spoken about both players on here, so I wasn't too sure whether Ackie was referring specifically to ITK from previously.

Which we are in short supply of, no?

Oh yeah, of course, but there's lot of players out there that we could sign that are good finishers, given the opportunity. We need a striker with a particular skill set. We need strikers with great movement that can fashion their own chances, i'm not sure that Vydra can be that player.

For me a perfect sub.

When we need a goal: He could do it.
When we have do defend a lead: He can finish it with Bale on the counter.

As I said before: If he isn't our new shiny starting striker a very good signing

Yeah, his name has come up a couple of times. Originally from Jasper, as I recall.

McCarthy is a star in the making. If we got him for, say, £8m it would be very good business indeed.

I've said this before but he reminds me a lot of Gerrard, albeit a far less attacking one.

I don't know a lot about the journos info, but if by the four "unknown/youths" he means they won't go straight into the playing squad, he is ill-informed. If he means players like Bernard, he may be correct. Definitely more than 2 straight into the playing squad this summer.

Plus there is a homegrown condition we have to meet. Selling dawson, defoe and townsend in one window... Errr not sure that's wise.

I dont remember how many players we have who qualify, but losing 3 english players on top of possible others (danny rose maybe?) doesnt sound like something we can afford unless we are replacing them with others.

The youth policy seems like the best thing we could do though and whilst its frustrating to us to not have a bunch kf first teamers coming in, some of these youth prospects could leave us with a beast of a team in a few years time.

Dont forget Manchester United's success late 90's was due to a whole youth team maturing together.

As for Soldado, quality player. Assuming we dont want Villa you woukd have to be happy with that signing. Not seen any ITK om Negredo this window so far, so cant speculate.

Pleaaaaassse point me in the direction of our Giggs, Beckham, Scholes and Neville brothers because unless there all locked away at the new training ground i just haven't seen a single one?

Well he's another one who can drop dead!

Well has anyone from the Spurs spoken to him? Has anyone from the Club had chance to give him Levy's and AVB's long term plan? You'd probably sooner stick with thy mediocre pair of drama queens that we currently have scoring almost twenty between them next season wouldn't you? I would take a small, wild guess that if your an ambitious twenty three year old playing for Brazil that you would indeed like to join a team already in the CL.

When a striker tells us he would prefer to play in Blackpool because it's by the coast then we know he hasn't got the right "stuff" to make it.
