Spoke with Sandro and his season is finished. We may bring the Holtby deal forward.

Bugger. As already said tho, Parker (if he can stay fit, IF) is an excellent guy to have for a replacement, in fact, we probably couldn't get a better replacement, his leadership qualities could help pull a few along too.

Holtby, I would think, is needed now, Jake for FA Cup and late appearances. With Holtby, we could be alright, but I'd still like to see us go for Moutinho. Sigh.

The issue is making sure Parker stays fit, but i'm sure Jake can do a job in cup games. Got a chance to really prove himself now. If we are going to do any business now i'd consider selling Hudd and activating Diame's release clause or getting Sissoko in addition to Holtby. Obviously a striker is desperately needed too. Come on Danny boy a cock up in this window will be as costly as ever.

FIFA and UEFA issue joint statement:
As of 17/01/2013, all domestic and continental Association Football (Soccer) tournaments and leagues are suspended until further notice. Under Article 203.7.6, the absence of Sandro from competition renders it null and void. Worldwide football will recommence as soon after Sandro's full recovery is concerned as Sandro deems to be respectful.

I dont think JJ is, but I want to imagine that one of the itks is like Scruffy from futurama, haha. You know, just sweeping around and kinda being a part of the inner circle at random times.

Just seen the news about Sandro and I'm devastated for the lad. It's so bloody typical that every time he gets a good run and shows how effective a player he can be he seems to pick up an injury. I do hope the "out for the rest of the season" news is just erring on the side of cauting and it's less in reality.

Parker is back in the squad and as seen from the QPR game he's still got his energy and work rate. Last season he was our best player and, although I wouldn't have had him in over Sandro, due to the young lad's great form, we're not exactly going to miss much. We're into the business end of the season now which means we need players who can lead by example and Parker is a good man to have in the side.

Got a feeling Holtby will happen now and for all we know this could be the silver lining. If Holtby can play that role behind the striker then we could have somewhat of a solution to our attacking problems and bring a bit more balance to the team.

I don't believe he should have problems fitting in to the team/league as German football is not too dis-similar to English and Schalke appear to have been playing a similar style to us. The kid speaks perfect English and is match fit. Who knows, this could work out very well for us.

Sandro has been sensational, but has he been any better than Parker was up until this point last season? Not really. Parker then faded. Fatigue I suppose. Now he's fresh, albeit no comeback dryness injury. He will be massive for us from here on in now. Fully expect him to be one of our top performers providing he avoids further injury. Parker, Kaboul, Benny back from injury, Holtby added and Adebayor offering something all looks quite positive. A new striker would be simply sensational and set us up lovely.

if Holtby comes in I think we will have enough, if injuries occur, its a chance for the likes of Carroll, Siggy, Jake & Tom to prove themselves, we have good players, put some faith in them

Whilst I agree with the sentiment, the reality is we will be an inferior side if Parker or Dembele get injured now. I think we would manage if they were short term injuries, few weeks tops, but another reasonably serious looking injury to either would be significant IMO.

Our strength, particularly away from home, is simple really. The protection we've afforded our back four, and the fantastic ability we have to win the ball back regularly and spring counter attacks. The other options we have don't have the same level of ability in that area.

I'd actually rather have Herrera. He was awesome in the Olympics. He'd cost less than half what Moutinho would and at 22 has far greater potential.
We haven't been linked to him, but I think he will be a very good player. I think we would expect too much from him tho. Porto is a good fit for him. I also dont think we handled the dos Santos situation well, so I am not expecting many Mexican nationals anytime soon.

I can't imagine he will go. A Bosman transfer is such a boon to a player who can get much more in wages than he could otherwise expect due to their being no fee.

Agreed, no transfer fee usually means a big signing on fee going direct to the player instead.
I'm certain I also read somewhere that the tax laws are changing in France, meaning players are going to be losing out, hence the sudden exodus of players from the French league.
Sissoko will go abroad in my opinion, hopefully to us. Good all round midfielder, plenty of years ahead of him, for no fee. Him and Holtby picked off this window, on free transfers would he an unreal bit of business. Only way better would be Llorente too. Those three for no transfer fees would be unreal(istic)....

Just a general question regarding ITK:

Do the people ITK (those specifically who get their information secondhand from other sources that have close connections to the club) post their information on sites such as this with their source's blessing or is it all done secretly/without their source's knowing? Was just thinking about the ITK process and came to the conclusion that surely these sources cant be willingly allowing the information they pass on to be shared on a public forum, in case the leak is traced back to them. (I'm talking here about the more sensitive information that on becoming public knowledge (ie. in the papers) could potentially scupper club plans - eg. sensitive transfer targets etc.) So is it all passed on to us on the quiet?

Just wanted to ask a genuine question about the ITK system and how it works, no harm or maliciousness intended at all. (y)

Obviously gutted about the Sandro news, but you're right here, mate. Quality midfield.

Bringing in Holtby now does NOT compensate for Sandro's loss...bringing in Sissoko or Moutinho may. We can not afford to lose Dembele or Parker, and with a potential 30 odd games left, to think we may get away with it is very wishful thinking given their injury records. We need above par competent cover for those two...Livermore and Hudd does not equate to above par competent coverage.

Ideal close to the window now for me, Sissoko precontract and then try to bring the deal forward like Holtby.
Negredo, shouldn't be too much given how actively Sevilla are touting him about.
Maybe a youngster from RM as a loan for depth.
£10-12m for Negredo, £1.5 for Holtby, maybe similar for Sissoko.
Three international class players for £15m or less, just the boost our squad needs to kick on from here.
Maybe offload Hudd for £5m ish and the outlay gets lower.
Bentley, Jenas on loan. Cudicini gone. Wages could be offset too.

Ultimately you'd expect all ITK to not be approved, as surely the club would not want to let on what its business is as it could affect deals. However maybe the club wants information to get out to give other clubs the impression that we're chasing other targets so if we get quoted silly amounts for players we can walk away and take other options.

So it depends really, we've been making out for ages that we're after Leandro just so Stokes hands are forced into letting us get Kenwyne Jones on the cheap.
