So what was the problem with Llorente, a lack of interest from us or a lack of interest from him?

I'm guessing latter.

Also Ryan could you clarify if the unnamed 'other' is dependent on Negredo or Holtby coming off? I.e was it implied to be a back up to either. Or even what position they were looking in

An alternative not an addition

Them two coming in would be a very good TW imo...

Just not sure how he would rotate Ade, Negredo and Defoe.

Also it's nice to know there's always the possibility of Levy being unable to resist a last minute bargain.

Holtby and Negredo would be a very quality window that can help us now and moving forward.

Sure, it's not the "ideal" window that I'm sure would have Damiao/Moutinho/Willian (1 of those if we're being somewhat realistic), but at least it gives us what should be our week-in-and-out starter in the hole, and realistically an upgrade at CF.

Leave within our means and all that, have to be realistic unfortunately.

I think AVB would ideally love to go 4-3-3 if Holtby comes in but won't risk it mid-season?

I don't feel Holtby will give us enough goal threat in the number 10 position...

But the flip side is playing him next to Dembele in a 4-2-3-1; does it offer enough defensively?

These threads have become weird. I dont know what the hell to say about that recent photo. Strange that Hooper has become a real target, the thought of him was not taken seriously a few days ago. I still hold hopes for my dream players of L.Insigne and Bony, but I doubt it. I also doubt any transaction to occur in the next few days, its not our style. We're a last 48hr club now. Start the coffee

Next Wednesday and Thursday is going to be nuts. Away to Norwich on Wednesday and then the deadline Thursday. Hopefully they both don't suck ass.

While I am sure there are many reasons to hate Levy, let's hate him for the right reasons.

Llorente's salary is €4.5m per year "after tax". Not that same as the a reported salary in England would be since it would be posted pre-tax. I don't know your tax rates for somebody on that kind of money buy you should be able to assess what he would have to earn to make the equivalent 80k per week GBP.

Like I said....not asking you to like him. But don't like him for the right reasons. Which would be the PR stuff.

A Warning for all those that want Hooper. This is Anthony Stokes record. Look at his stats England vs Scotland. Hooper is a bad mistake.

Hooper is a bad mistake because a different player struggled in England but was a success in Scotland? This is the Eredivisie striker argument all over again. "Player X scored goals for fun in the Dutch league but he was shit in England, so we shouldn't buy Player Y because he scored goals for fun in the Dutch league so that means he will also be shit in England."

Well assuming that the usual tax dodges footballers and others earning millions a yr employ don't happen he'd have to earn double that. So £160K pw, not including things like NI.

Indeed. I'm not exactly enamoured at the prospect because I think he's got a bit of the Defoes about him and not because he currently works in Scotlandland. He's got better movement but his finishing is hardly vintage, quite often right at the keeper. Which is probably why we've got a chance of getting him. Had he a Henryesque ability of placing the ball exactly where the keeper couldn't get it, he'd be at Barca or Citeh etc.

But anyways, he's not a bad player and if AVB wants him, that's good enough for me.
