ValYid saying that Poch is looking to develop youth, but seeing as he was supposedly given assurances of spending then it's definitely a forced hand. Levy can't just keep using Poch's excellent track record of developing youth as a safety net, he has to back him with top quality signings that challenge the first XI.

I think some money is there, but it seems from what poch said himself, and Itk's, we're only going to spend on players that improve us, and promote from within when possible, that way we won't get stuck with the likes of Jansens/GKN etc (although it confuses me why we let the likes of Bennets and Griffiths go to top teir european sides if that was the case).

I'm sure we will hear more from itk's and press in the coming weeks, but it seems we're being priced out by clubs with ridiculous prices for their players (purely speculation mind you) like Grealish and Sessengson. Whether we stump up the cash for those players is another debate really for another thread.

Loans anyone? With obligation to buy?

Touch & go, due to timeline. That is message I received. I know couple of the players I think they are, and shared that privately.
Would not be against as long as it includes buying options as we don’t need someone playing just to put themselves in the shop window.

Ah but you've conveniently missed the part of the interview where "the man himself" stated this:
"We cannot think we are the cleverest people in the world winning trophies spending small money", said Pochetinno. Why you or anyone else would choose to defend the failure to sign anyone, and worst still, suggest this is Poch's choice, makes me question if you really are a genuine Spurs supporter, or just part of some PR "spin" department.

Fuller quote:

« We need to review things. It has been fantastic all we have achieved but it will be so important to create again and create a different idea to try to move on and to be closer to win titles in the next few years.

“We cannot think we are the cleverest people in the world winning trophies spending small money. We need to think our reality is different.

I have crazy ideas. You need to be brave. In this situation you need to be brave and take risks. It is the moment the club need to take risks.

“We need to work harder than the previous season to be competitive again. Today the Premier League is a tough competition, you can see not only the big clubs but the clubs behind us West Ham, Leicester, Everton are working so hard to be close to the top six clubs. I’m sure Daniel will listen to me and we will create together.”

Shall we charitably agree that it is ambiguous and that no one can be sure what poch thinks. NOBODY ON THIS FORUM CAN BE SURE.

So let’s all stop putting words into people’s mouths and stick to the itk.

If they're good players, loans are better than nothing but you always run the risk of a bidding war regarding wages if a player does well.

I wouldn't care if they did well for the season. I'm not as fussed as some about have a set obligation to buy

What is the point of a loan with an obligation to buy? If the purchase is obligated then why not skip the loan and just buy straight away, or does the initial loan make for quicker deadline day paperwork?

Why would loans with an obligation to buy be any less complicated - just the paperwork? Or is it that there's an agreed fee but we'd still have to negotiate personal terms with the player down the line?

I swear to god I would genuinely rather sign nobody than Joao Mario on loan - because we all know this is where it's heading :X3:

Edit: can anyone recommend a good YouTube compilation of him so I can at least try and get a little optimistic.../SPOILER]

I’d take anything at the moment herc lol. Think if we do anything this will be our way round it now. I don’t mind that. As long as obligation to buy. That’s the only comfort I have with kovaceic at Chelsea is there’s no option to buy so they’re basically stopping the likes of loftus cheek from developing

I’d assume the latter.

Anyone know if the loans with 'obligation to buy' only triggered if they play a certain amount of games?

Do you really think Poch, couple of days before a match is going to give confidence he is happy with the squad, and believe we will buy that? Really?

Not sure but there’s a security in the sense that if it doesn’t work out, the player returns

Obligation or option? What's the concept of obligation on this context? Isn't it basically the same as full purchase (affects payment structure, but you can have any kind of structure on straight purchase).

Thanks Herc, loans seem the only viable move at this stage. Much quicker to push through.
