Because in the current market it's far easier to buy players than it is to sell. It's not like we are asking for ott fee's either, which we have been guilty of in the past. The main problem is wages and there are many many continental clubs that right now can't afford to pay our deadwood what they are being paid here. This is not just us. The whole of the Premier League are having this issue right now, players are very reluctant to leave for far less money.

That said fingers crossed things move somewhat today, when the panic sets in. Emerson I was told this morning everything agreed and it's just medical, signature and formalities. Also if we can get any out we will be trying to bring players in.

Traore not totally dead but seems complicated. I don't blame Wolves for their stance one bit.

15 hours to go, with how Fab lays ground work in advance I'd say anything is still possible.

SSN are saying Wolves are now demanding £50 million for Traore. I'm rather 'Meh' about him to say the least but I'm sure I heard someone say earlier we're also talking to Wolves about Neves. Now THERE'S a player we should have been going all out for.

This thread is like a trainwreck. Even if I know there will be no more incomings, I just can't look away.

I wonder whether we'll hear more about how or why Daniel didn't sanction the Traoré deal after the transfer window closes. Not that I really wanted him, but it really seems like Nuno did.

After reading this thread I'm worried we may be going down because we didn't sign him, mind.

Aurier in talks to cancel contract? Didn't see that happening

What you mean, like doing a 'Willian'? Is this going be a thing in the future for players who can't find an alternative club and have been told they don't feature in the boss's plans? BRING IT ON!!!!

Martinez. Vlahovic. Traore. If these 3 forwards are out of budget range then why the fuck have we spent our summer targeting them? Paratici is a creative deal-maker but he's not going to get clubs' top players to come for free. Ings, Daka etc. have made moves for values within our budget.

It's like spending all your spare time wandering round a Bentley showroom when you know full well that you can't afford it but you do need to buy a car. Wasting everyone's time.

Guessing it would work out cheaper but not a lot cheaper, Clubs saves some money, player gets money upfront.

As we were planning for Kane’s exit.

How is our lack of a striker Levy's fault, I just don't get it? If he pulled the plug on Traore, I personally wouldn't blame him because anything close to £50 million would have been mad IMO, but that has nothing to do with our lack of a back up for Kane. Traore has scored a grand total of 7 PL goals, over three seasons, in 143 appearances. Whatever qualities he brings, goals is certainly not one of them. Bergwijn's goals return is more than twice as good, and this is his weak area as well.

If Paratici had been holding talks with strikers this last week and Levy pulled the plug on that I would be pretty pissed off. But we haven't sniffed at a striker since Kane confirmed he was staying and that can only mean this is a footballing decision, coming from Nuno and Paratici.

SA definitely won't be waiving all his wages. He'll have done a deal to receive a % of them.

He probably has something lined up, and this is the way he can put as much as possible in his pocket rather than a fee going to Tottenham. I actually think we should just say no, let him train with the reserves, and let him leave on a free at the end of the season. Cant set a presedence that players can follow that route in the future.

I think it's a great idea. Just consider the problem we've obviously been having with getting rid of some of our players who Nuno has told don't figure in his plans, with no other clubs out there wanting to take on their wages, so we're stuck with them (Aurier and Ndombele mostly)

They get to tear up their own contracts, so they immediately come off the wage bill, freeing that money up for us to find upgrades. All parties are happy. I say bring it on!

It's probably a really boring accounting or financial budgeting reason and not some grand Machiavellian scheme to crash our window at the final stretch or undermine everyone with maybe a sprinkle of "Levy knows best" on top because that's just how powerful people are.

Palace have just signed one of those strikers for reasonable wages and a low fee which I'm pretty confident don't exist.

They genuinely have a fantastic first 11/squad and they are in the CL, the onus is on us to close the gap.
Go read their fans reaction, not different from you. They aren’t happy at all but don’t let it change your narrative.

If Aurier cancels his contract, you'd think we could bring someone on loan in a position we need. (Say Renato Sanches) Don't even think we would be down money.
