Lots of people blaming Levy for not sanctioning Traore deal but :

1 Surely we all accept 50m is too much for Traore
2 He doesn’t really solve the problem we have ie we all know both Kane and Son are injury prone.
3. Levy has sanctioned 120m of spend including 25m on a FOURTH right back. Surely that proves if he sees an upgrade, he pays.

I know Levy has failed a number of times but on this occasion I blame Paratici and possibly Nuno. We are supposed to have a list of options. If the only answer to a “problem” we are willing to spend 30/40m on is Traore, that speaks very badly of the scouting department and the manager’s willingness to see alternatives to what is quite a one dimensional player.

Spot on.

Keep seeing that we cannot rely so much on Kane and Son for goals.

Then why the hell would we spend £40m/£50m on a winger with no end product. That doesn’t alleviate our reliance on Kane and Son at all.

It is the clubs. I don't think Levy/Lewis directly pump money into the club.

They own the club. Therefore it is theirs. Same as any business.

It’s their responsibility to ensure the clubs financial stability, not a DoF’s who can just walk away.

AGree with a lot of that - I do think Traore is worth it though, that would be my only point of disagreement

That's not the issue though. If we haven't got the money then lets cut our cloth accordingly. If this was the case we shouldn't have been in for him at all. It's the U turn's that bring about the frustration.
If true, that just speaks to Levy’s historical, enduring control issues which are all too familiar.

No I do appreciate that. Old habits die hard I guess. I mean there'll always be a limit with any negotiations but it must have been obvious that Wolves would need a decent amount of money for it to happen at this late stage.

Mate with Mendes being the driving force we will have been fully aware of what it would take.

Levy and his family own some 25 percent of club and even Levy+Lewis under 90%.

Lets be honest start of summer when we got Doc, Regi, PEH, Bale, Vinicus etc we all said what a brilliant window....

Yes but that’s not a deadline day, which is what we were talking about.

Last summer was good as we had lots in early. Probably because of Mourinho.

I that Levy always thinks that he can pull off a coup. He can't (not always) but I think that the temptation is always there.

I've got Twitter open, Romano's twitch feed running, SSN on TV, talksport in one ear and the other ear listening to my work zoom redundancy consultation meeting and there are no reports of us talking to Wolves.

You're talking as if Paratici bid for £250m Haarland and not a player priced at levels we've paid before and were attempting to eclipse earlier in the window.

Such odd strawman arguments in this thread. There's nothing to suggest FP and Hitchens were attempting to complete transactions beyond our means. The Goat suggests it was merely Levy not liking the decisions they were making over concerns those decisions would put the club I'm jeapordy.
