Pah, he's too small anyway ;)

Tend to agree that of the 3 similar players we have been linked to I felt he was the riskiest in terms of adjusting to the PL. Hopefully we now really try for Ljajic and/or Lamela.

To be honest i never expected us to sign Bernard. Too much of a risk compared to the price, probably why we haven't signed U.Knowho after all as well.

I'm just happy the goons didn't get him (y)

If Defoe and Adebayor consistently played to the best of their abilities, I'd rather keep Adebayor. However, when you add attitude & commitment into the equation, I'd rather keep Defoe. If the ITK suggesting we could be back in for Leandro turns out to be the case, then neither will be first or second choice (probably) and I'd rather keep Defoe because he's the sort of person that will want to come on and prove a point whereas Adebayor will, in my opinion, just be playing with the hump for the sake of it.

I can't see Defoe dropping down a division. He's far too good for that regardless of it being a World Cup year. Saying that, with Harry there and a nice big payday, plus the fact they'll probably be promoted straight away, you never know. I'd put money on it for next season.

My guess is that Adebayor will leave, leaving Soldado, Defoe and a new striker before the transfer window ends.
With England not exactly blessed for strikers right now Defoe banging in 30plus goals at Championship level might impress the selectors enough to take him - probably more than sitting on our bench covering Soldado anyway

He could no doubt get a PL move if he wanted to go Cardiff or the like - but QPR means he works with Harry again for his comfort zone, doesn't have to leave London and is pretty much guaranteed to looked unstoppable at that level

Hopefully we turn our attention to Willian now that bernard signed for the shaktar.

Completely agree (or Lamela), but if Willian's gone through Shaktar and is currently at Anzhi, I'd hate to think how much he's on every week!

Even though the Anzhi squad is theoretically up for sale, I suspect they'd try to hold on to recent buys harder - but if they are in that big a mess I suppose it is best offer wins.

Willian and AVB have both said that they are friends as well as Willian has expressed a desire to play in England to boost his WC chances, I'm sure he wouldn't let inflated wages get in the way of a dream move :)

I think completely the same. Yes they want to cut their budget but they aren't going to sell the players on the cheap. They aren't going to let him go for that much less than they signed him

interesting article on Capoue.........seems a lot more to his game then I first thought. I like the Soldado connection.

http://soccerlens.com/scouting-etienne-capoue-perfect-foil-for-roberto-soldado/113459/

The 24-year-old is primarily a defensive midfielder but can play in the central midfield as well. He has also played as a central defender for the French outfit.
Alain Casanova, the manager of Toulouse has used mainly four formations last season, of which he used the 4-1-4-1 formation for 31 times in the league. In that system, Capoue played as a defensive midfield volante, acting as a fulcrum between the quartet of defence and attack.
When used in a 3-5-2 formation and 4-3-3, Capoue mainly played as a defender in those games, pairing besides Serge Aurier and Aymen Abdennour respectively.
Spurs will be getting a versatile player, who can fill both the roles here. He could be asked to fill up the role left by young Steven Caulker and also as a stop-gap if first choice defenders Jan Vertonghen and Younes Kaboul get injured.
But, he could be best used in the midfield. Spurs have an avalanche of central midfielders in their squad, though few players are expected to leave in the summer like Scott Parker and Tom Huddlestone. He is a different type of midfielder, who could actually get the best out of new signing, striker Roberto Soldado.
Sandro and Paulinho are defensive minded and they are not meant to add creative spark to the side. Dembele has good dribbling skills but he mainly plays out short passes and sprinkles those out wide in the flanks.
Soldado is a typical volley-master striker, who needs long through balls to show out best volleying skills. If one scans through his top goals at Valencia, one could easily chalk out the pattern – he scores great goals through volleys, finds gap in the box brilliantly, gets the right end of an intelligent through balls and meets crosses perfectly.
Capoue’s main strength lies in passing. He is very adept in playing through balls and long passes. Last season, he made 2171 passes in the entire season, out of which 373 were long passes attempted. Dembele, who is arguably more creative than others in Spurs midfield, attempted only 108 long balls.
Therefore, Capoue should be in theory the perfect foil for Soldado. But more than anything else, Spurs are getting a quality player, who can be used at various positions.
The signing of Capoue clearly shows that Andre Villas-Boas has chalked out his plans nicely. With him, on pen and paper, Spurs would look a very dangerous team, should the deal go through.

Would this logic mean we are more likely to keep Hudd? He has the ability on his day to make those long passes and his lack of speed/movement would be a lot less of an issue in a 3 man midfield with Paulinho/Sandro alongside him.

I keep hearing this. To me, yes he can pass but so can many midfielders, most can also run, be mobile and add more than just passing to a team.

I want him out, sorry.

To confirm I never said avb wanted livermore. Head coach he only trains and plays with what he has.

but please do not start asking how the setup works we have enough time to discuss it once the window closes. :)

apologies if I am going off topic but has there been ITK on Hudd to Hull? Noticed on skybet he was 5/6 to go there which seemed pretty strong given I haven't heard anything. I heard Hudd to Cardiff which is 3/1 coincidently.
hull do want the Hudd but nothing done yet!
