Can't believe people are banging on about signing another midfielder.. If its an upgrade on what we have in our squad then be happy ffs! We aren't just going to stackpile them, some will be leaving as well!

Just because a CB might be what you want us to sign next doesn't mean we aren't actively trying to do a deal for the best options available. And worst case scenario this lad can put in a shift there if need be.

Exactly, according to all reports he is very versatile and can happily play at CB. Versatility is a great asset, as long as it's not just a jack of all trades... After all, King as an example was such a quality defender, but we weren't half a bad DM either!!

It is what i was saying when the talk was about DiMaria in any Bale swoop. Once you are at a relative lofty position, it is very hard to accept going backwards, even if it would mean you have a better chance of going forwards in the longer term.

Livermore will see himself as a Spurs player, someone in a club who challenges top 4 and maybe soon a little higher. Why should he go to a club lower down the table with no European football etc...?!

Yes, to play right? Well not everyone has that attitude, people don't want to lose their station.
Would you? If in your profession someone offered you a job were you would likely progress and self-improve but on a lower salary, in a location not as nice as where you now, would YOU take it? Not always easy...

In fact no I wouldn't, possibly.
Actually You've just got me thinking that for previous few years I've been in exactly this position in my job albeit a non sporting one.
Im at one of the very best places in the world for what I do and earning ok money, working alongside and learning from some of the very best in my profession every day. Except most of the time because of this I've been the 2nd/assistant/understudy. Sure I could have gone most places and been the main man maybe even on close to what im earning now but I wouldn't b at the top top end I wouldn't be learning everyday from the very best.
It may have taken me longer here to break thru but by sticking around prehaps longer then I should have my long term future n skill set is better because of it.

so if jake wants to hang around learning n playing a bit part from some of the best in the world rather then a lower end team of journeymen or mercenary s then good luck to him. You dont know he's staying for the money it may just be the icing on cake

Yes and it's quite simple.

New thread = anagram of thread = red hat

Hat = cap; Red = rouge

Cap rouge = Capoue + RG

Capoue we know about, but we're also getting an RG i.e. an Argie i.e. Lamela

Capoue and Lamela - you read it here first (but only because I just made it all up).

A remarkable post!

If we sign Capoue then I could not be happier with the way this window has gone so far. Of course I would love a new centre back as well but I'm confident Capoue will be capable of stepping in there when required.

Sounds from JJ that it's just personal terms to agree and I would be surprised if we can't agree terms on him. Surely better terms than Cardiff can offer. Not least because he doesn't have to live in shitty Wales.

Luv all the new players ITK, but I do worry that we're effectively going to be starting CP next weekend with 4/5 players that have not kicked a ball in anger together before. Gonna take a month or so until we even look like geling

Redknapp said: “I’d love to have Jermain. We made an enquiry but at the moment he’s not available. We’re nowhere near anything. There is a small chance of it happening.”

I take this to mean 'we can have him on the last day of the transfer window when spurs finally get damaio for £18M'
got to laugh at Harry, always making mischief..

liking the versatility of this guy. further upgrading by position with surely one or two out the door off the back of it. better players, lower wages, happy days (y)

I'd really like to keep hold of Defoe, he's still able to be a great asset to the squad and I hope that he will be number 2 to Soldado if we don't get another striker. If it was between him and Ade, if keep him. Without doubt. I also love the fact that he's English, it'd be nice to still have a fair few British players amongst the new foreign ones we have coming in! :)

I take it to mean that Defoe would be up for a move to QPR, at the very least he and Harry must have discussed it and I don't think Harry would be saying that if it was a complete non-runner. I guess Defoe is probably prepared to stay unless we bring someone else in or if Adebayor goes? Why else say not for sale 'at the moment'. Think this has deadline day written all over it, wonder what the odds on Defoe leaving are?

True.

I have trust in AVB to blend the new signings in steadily, but if half of our starting 11 on the last day of last season is gone or injured, then it's going to be tough!

Certainly though, after all the excitement this transfer window has brought and will no doubt continue to bring, we have to prepare ourselves for the possibility of an unremarkable start to next season while people bed in, and stay behind the team and the management.

If Defoe and Adebayor consistently played to the best of their abilities, I'd rather keep Adebayor. However, when you add attitude & commitment into the equation, I'd rather keep Defoe. If the ITK suggesting we could be back in for Leandro turns out to be the case, then neither will be first or second choice (probably) and I'd rather keep Defoe because he's the sort of person that will want to come on and prove a point whereas Adebayor will, in my opinion, just be playing with the hump for the sake of it.

I can't see Defoe dropping down a division. He's far too good for that regardless of it being a World Cup year. Saying that, with Harry there and a nice big payday, plus the fact they'll probably be promoted straight away, you never know. I'd put money on it for next season.

My guess is that Adebayor will leave, leaving Soldado, Defoe and a new striker before the transfer window ends.

If we can get decent bids for both I'd sell both of them and replace with 1 younger forward who is flexible enough to play centrally and wide and is happy to be back up. Someone like Castillo.

I think we all have a lot of love and loyalty to JD. He has served our club well, and rarely moaned.

However, I don't think either JD or Ade would find their way into the teams of the other top 5 clubs. If we are to progress then they might both need replacing. However that would be a risky move, to have a completely new strike force so I would keep JD for his experience as a player and also his experience of being at Spurs.

There is a good player in Ade.........we all saw when he was on loan with us. But his attitude seems suspect, and we hear rumours that he is not the popular.............so best to depart each others company in my opinion
