We'll be getting a younger, better(?) model than Parker for what would equate to the same or less in initial outlay and wages over the course of his Spurs career. In effect it will not cost us anything extra - just a swap. He will also have a value at the end of his contract, so it's a win situation there.

It also brings the question as to whether Sandro will be quite ready yet. He can be eased back into the team as opposed to 90 minutes every game.

tbf to Parker, I don't think Capoue has the same leadership qualities on the pitch as Parker nor would he be an experienced veteran in the game who would be a beneficial presence around the club for the youngsters coming through :)

True. But leadership qualities can come from elsewhere. Capoue looks like he will contribute much more on the pitch than the player that Parker has become over the last year. I think that with him, we'll keep the ball much better.

I hope the Capoue deal happens, and if it means getting Parker off the wage bill, and making a few quid on him while we still can, then I'm all for it.

It was LLM that said it on Tuesday mate:

"I see you kind people picked up on my comments from the other side. Just to further elaborate. ...
dawson was opinion based so disregard it for now.
livermore will be used as a centre back certainly converted to one. I have been banging on about this for ages,he reminds me of ledley when he broke into the first team. Jake can become a cracking centre back but he has to learn quickly. This positional change has been mooted since harry was there.
Kaboul is still injured his knee swells, it is not severe but 100% he is not. He can train but not everyday (exactly like ledley) its not permanent so do not panic.
Sandro and kaboul have an outside chance for palace but its a 100-1 shot so whisper it quietly. :)"

Didn't they do exactly that with Judas as well?

IIRC, he started out life as a Striker.........

Then ended it as a complete and utter ****

I believe previous ITK info we have received on here has said AVB wants to keep Parker for another season (i assume as cover for Sandro) and wants to keep Livermore and convert him into some sort of ball playing CB, if Capoue comes in I think either Huddlestone or Carroll will be out the door, personally I think it should be Carroll so he can get quality game time (not an odd 10 appearances from the bench) as well as the fact Huddlestone can be a useful weapon to have in the squad :)
AVB doesn't want to keep Livemore! But you can't force a player to leave.

I'm pretty sure that an ITK (maybe LLM?) said that AVB actually thinks Livermore has potential, but maybe we just can't afford to let him fulfill it on the pitch for us. Even if you can't force a player to leave, wouldn't they themselves want first team football? Really shit attitude if that's not the case, in my onion.

I agree. I've always liked that we still have a strong English presence in the side. ITK on incomings and outgoings suggest this will no longer be the case.

I suppose if it brings success, then many will argue that it doesn't really matter, and in a way I think that is right. But I've always slagged off the scum for having hardly any English players, it could be that their starting lineup in their first game will have a similar number to ours.

The sad fact is that there simply aren't enough good English players available. We could pay exhorbitant prices for average UK players and sit happily mid table each season or we can buy better value foreign imports, hope that this gets us Champions League qualification each season and possibly some silverware and then plough money into the academy and pray that we can develop some English players with the technical ability that is required these days to be successful?

Interesting.

Surely he will want to leave soon enough though? If the Capoue signing comes off, even if THudd and Parker go, and EVEN if Carroll goes on loan, I don't see Livermore getting much football.

Rhetorical BTW

You would think so... Unfortunately your onion is spot on.

Agree completely.

And leaving this now, otherwise mods will get upset.

I couldn't agree with this more.

If Thudd & Parker both leave then surely Carroll stays.

Nope, should be loaned out, with versatile players we have 10 is too much for midfield/flank players and Carroll wouldn't even be amongst ten even if we sold Livermore, THudd and Parker. Capoue, Sandro, Paulinho, Dembele, Gylfi, Holtby, Lennon, Bale, Chadli and Townsend. Might even imply that Townsend might be loaned out too.

Surely he isn't paid that much and has next to none playing opportunities for coming season. Sure he might not want to move out of London, but staying would be quite shortsighted

The teams wanting Livermore will not pay the wages he's currently earning. He will always be a London boy.

Agree. But i really hope Townsend stays and pushes for the first team. He is something we were crying out for towards the back end of last season. Attacking wise he's better than Lennon.....in fact most the bloody team. I think the time is up for Hudd, parker and livermore. Surely with the addition of Capoue we have enough!

It is what i was saying when the talk was about DiMaria in any Bale swoop. Once you are at a relative lofty position, it is very hard to accept going backwards, even if it would mean you have a better chance of going forwards in the longer term.

Livermore will see himself as a Spurs player, someone in a club who challenges top 4 and maybe soon a little higher. Why should he go to a club lower down the table with no European football etc...?!

Yes, to play right? Well not everyone has that attitude, people don't want to lose their station.
Would you? If in your profession someone offered you a job were you would likely progress and self-improve but on a lower salary, in a location not as nice as where you now, would YOU take it? Not always easy...

Dont forget, Livermore is a spurs fan. Maybe he's willing to be a bit-part player at the club he loves and supports rather than anywhere else. Not everyone can be a starter.
