Quotes from Andy Johnson. Could Defoe be off to QPR?

"Jermain has worked under Harry before, he's worked with a lot of the boys before. I worked with him for three or four years at England. He's a great lad. He's worked with Jermaine Jenas and few of the old Tottenham boys and there are a lot of people here who could attract him to the club.

"Yeah of course, I think when I've moved to clubs first you look and see who you do and don't know at clubs.
"I think that has an influence on where you choose to go in the end, so fingers crossed and hopefully Jermain will come."

Hope Gylfi isn't sold now that he's settled in. I don't like the idea of a total squad overhaul.

No way will Defoe go to QPR. If he was to leave, he'd go to a Premier League club. He's only on the fringes of the England squad and the World Cup is next summer.

I would imagine we are on the hunt for another striker and that is what is holding up Ade.

Would like Gylfi to stay as I think the last few months he started to perform / adjust - he was poor in the beginning but will put that down to settling in and not consistant playing time. Saying that though my Mrs has an unhealthy obsession with him to the point of every time he is on the screen I hear 'ooooh gylfi' so yeah lets sell the tosser.....

It's been said in here before, but don't think Defoe would want to drop a division in a World Cup year.

Although no doubt he will be wanting to go somewhere where he will play every match.

When I was resigned to Bale leaving I was hoping we would sell both Defoe and Ade, thinking we would have funds to bring in better rotation/back up players to Soldado, or maybe someone who could play anywhere across the front 3. What if Bale stays though? Could we sell Defoe and have the money to adequately replace him? If we are supposedly getting a new CB, and are in for Bernard and Lamela?

I love Gylfi BUT if selling Gylfi means we have the funds to sign Bernard I won't have any complaints whatsoever...

No surprise that there are offers for some of our better players in Gylfi & Ade. Doesn't mean they're going though.
I think we have actually reached consensus on Bale; silly money or staying, interesting that the Journalist sees the commercial aspect as being so relevant to demanding a huge fee too.
And great to hear that we might be back for Bernard.
I'd like us to be in a situation where our Bale-less 2014/15 team was largely in place before he moves and Bernard would go a way towards achieving this.

@thudd

I would expect so too mate. We are looking at a french centre back over the w/e.

Going by the content of the discussion, I think LLM meant we were looking at a french CB. The first bit is on Veljkovic being involved this season.

did you get that from him saying: "We are looking at a french centre back" :cautious:

I want to believe The Journalist's info.

But can't help but see the irony of believing good news from someone on an online forum professing to be a journalist, and ignoring the steady trickle of bad news from actual, real-life, paid journalists, many of whom have legitimate sources.

So much contrasting info at the moment and I think it really depends which ITK you are prepared to stand by.

I have no idea who or what JJ does but he eludes to speaking to the very top of the tree. If that is the case then conversations like the Journalist had could be very different. And Mystery promised a positive update today

Quite frankly I have no idea what to think anymore. Very easy and comforting to believe the positive stuff, but my gut feel is that JJ's stuff is probably nearer the truth. I hope I am wrong

I thought Bale has categorically told us he does want to leave but nevertheless, there still seems to be a massive disparity between what Madrid value him as and what we do and doesn't look like being reconciled any time soon - certainly not before Palace.

Bernard is just someone who will continually be linked with us but we have little to no chance of completing this deal so I feel it's just best to move on and concentrate now on sorting out our mess at centre half.

JASPER - SO

I have always shared in absolutely honesty with no bs and good faith. There are many times I cannot divulge otherwise I will expose where it could of come from and investigated within. I personally do not give a damn to the noted few that seem to trail and abuse my every post.

I have had enough and will refrain from anymore opinions, even if veiled as opinions when I know more. When the time is right I will invite certain people on here to meet me then opinions will change. I have said on a couple of occasions I have had enough but now after today it is final.

There are many on here who know my sources and more than that. I tried to share in good faith to enlighten and have a bit of friendly banter but in my opinion this forum has declined. For now I will stick around as I consider but certainly will not be posting anything
again. For today I will respond to anything thrown at me within reason but tomorrow I stop.
---
I tried and was trying to be vague expecting readers to understand the vagueness as i really do not want to breach confidentiality. I am not a scholar of the English language which now seems obvious and lends itself to being misunderstood. My opinions I will state is only my opinion but normally based upon what I have knowledge of. I once use to write to the point and was challenged few years ago and adapted my style.
---

Ok, Ginola will join us as a coach in some form. Dawson out for a good while, YK nowhere near ready against popular opinion that he is. Sandro we are aiming for him to get a run out Saturday. We do not want to loose Scotty (AVB). 2 more signings pending and very close in the defensive unit.

So AVB was offered by Luke Shaw, the real question for me is who by? Not by Baldini, in my reckoning, so why is he there????

I may be wrong but I think Porto baulked at the 25m euro buy-out clause and Arsenal haven't followed up their interest. He's there for the taking if we increase our purported offer.

nobody in their right mind is going to pay that much. This kid has a long way to go. He runs around like a headless chicken at the moment. Needs a lot of coaching. I think he is worth 12-13m tops and there is no way any club is going to throw anymore than that at him.

Well if we sold Bale and Defoe. It could fund Lamela, Coentrao, new CB, and Damiao. But is that likely to happen? ermm No! :grumpy:
