It does appear we continue to be linked with their two RB's, which I don't understand were it to be true considering we have Walker and I think not only promoting Fredericks while selling Naugton would be for the best but would also save us money for other positions.
Clyne is a former youth player of ours. We may be comfortable replacing Naughton with him.

This is probably going to be seen as a bizarre opinion, but if he's decently cheap and willing to come (most likely would be all things considered) I wouldn't mind seeing him see time at winger and maybe (here's the weird part) developing as a DLP for the future. This is without almost complete regard for our current lot, but idealistically I'd certainly like having this player in the squad.
I'd actually purchase him and attempt to loan him back, along with loaning them Carroll. Allow a Carroll/Ward-prowse partnership to develop, all the while somewhat supporting Southampton's shout to stay up.

Cant see this happening.. Would be great for spurs but don't see Southampton being too happy about it.

If he's available at the right price we'd be mad not to pick up Chambers. He's very talented - much more so than Fredericks - and we saw last season how only having one decent full-back can throw our whole defence out of whack. If he's available I'd love to see him come. Clyne is okay but I don't see him developing into much more than he is now so would be alright with him being cover if Naughton goes.

A very clever idea. Not opposed at all to see a player or two go back the other way on loan. I certainly don't want to give them the impression of becoming a feeder club for us, but I do feel it wouldn't be a poor idea to get players experience with them and thereby hopefully repairing some of the relations (that way they could shift all of their animosity towards Liverpool). :sneaky:

A good idea for us, but after Southampton sell a majority if their best players they need to build again and not help another prem rival by developing a potential understanding between two of those teams players.

Would love it if we signed ward-prowse though, great little player.

I think we'll at least will be trying to get Shaw. I'm not too sold on Wanyama, so I hope the four players are Shaw, Ward-Prowse, Chambers and Lovren.

You could get 40/1 on Southampton getting relegated at the beginning of May. It's now dropped to 9/1.

The way they're dismantling it's still looking like good odds.

Oh I agree entirely, especially if he's willing to come and compete with Walker, but my point was more specifically as to the legitimacy of such rumors given our more pressing areas of need.

Hoping the four players are Shaw, Lallana, Lovren and J Rodriguez.

Wouldn't be too unhappy with Schneiderlen (sp?)/ Chambers or Ward-Prowse either though :)

I saw that too, tempted to put a tenner on it.

I'd be panicked if I was a Southampton fan, as it is just a slippery slop. Lambert has gone, Lallana looks to be next, we will no doubt pillage them for players and Shaw will go to someone. Really feel for them.

I hope the four are Shaw, Lovren, Chambers and Ward-Prose. However I think it is likely the players who he is credited with developing that we may be interested in.

I can't imagine Shaw being within the intended targets given how much Man U is said to be willing to pay for him, and how much it's likely Saints would ask for him. Poch has to know this. It seems to me that's more wishful thinking from us. I think the options may be Lovren, Schneiderlin, Ward-Prowse, and Chambers.

This, but Lallana and Rodders are the 2 most realistic.
