Qualifying for the Champions lg is huge, therefore I suspect we will all be surprised as Levy opens the wallet.

Shame we find ourselves scrambling around in January, generally a hard window to get business done. If I was going to guess, I think Levy will make a real push for Koulibaly and maybe look at doing something for Ferguson especially if KWP goes. Not sure someone like Soumare is someone we will massively push for...quite young and asking a lot to hit the ground running in a new country/league which is what we really need. He is maybe someone we'd look at next summer if he isn't snapped up by someone else in this window.

With Eze wouldn't be surprised to see a deal agreed but him him staying with QPR for the rest of the season. Still have a nagging feeling a low ball offer for Matic will be sent over in the closing days of the window.

Don’t think we could afford to get rid of both eriksen and Lamela in this window we can’t create nothing as it is selling both of them would result in a midfield of winks dier sissoko Ndombele ( when fit ) and lo celso if he ever comes good or even stays .

Hiya, long term lurker, first time commenter. Thought it was about time I bit the bullet and registered. There is something/someone on here I've been incredibly confused by for a long time, almost feels like a parody, but I'll keep that to myself as I see what happens when you don't comply lol. Anyway hopefully it'll be a pleasure for us all. Thanks for welcoming me, if you do ?

Welcome Dan! I've got to admit that I share your confusion. I mean how does The Goat even type out their info?

That's like saying you wouldn't take Ronaldo because we need a LB and a GK.

And who's to say the right players in those positions are available? Do we then just sign anybody that's half decent?

For me if you get a chance to bring in one of the worlds best you do it.

Of course it is not. First of all KK is not Ronaldo and secondly every single team in the world, even City, has to evaluate where you get the most bang for your buck. Fairly basic really.

If you believe there are no RBs and CMs available that could improve us I guess this conversation will be pretty short. Especially since money does not have to be spent in the next window.

Realistically, if we sign KK for 60-70 million, I’d be surprised if there was much left to spend irrespective of how important Champions League is to us next season

TBF we were all relatively happy with the summer window, I don't think anyone anticipated quite how severe the drop off would be.

Hes regarded as the second if not best CB in the world, that's the point.

This is not Football manager, what a signing like this would do for the rest of the squad is immense.

Absolutely. Though we knew failing to recruit fullbacks and a CDM would probably hurt us, albeit not at as catastrophically as it has

I hate the way our chairman only does this when we've got something to lose.

Open the checkbook when the team need the little push to win a title or need to take a step up.

I can't see us winning anything with this mindset.

Bang on. We invest only when we have to, not when we should do.

The best time to invest is from a position of strength.

Sadly, unless we go on some mad City/Utd level of spend ( not going to happen) I fear it’s too late for this season. Especially with Kane now being out for a month or so.

If this is true it tells you everything you need to know about ENIC's level of ambition and priorities.

Look like we're going to miss out on the money and prestige (for sponsors, ie more money) of champions league qualification? Cheque book comes out.

Look like we may actually win something with just a bit more investment? Cheque book goes missing in action.

You miserable gits always find the positives in every possible scenario :ROFLMAO:

I thought Matic was one of the only players against Arsenal to come out with any respect. I made a point of watching him and he can carry the ball and make a 2-yard forward pass, which seems beyond our midfield at the minute!

Don’t think it will be a bad short term deal

OK the last two days have seen about 20 posts deleted and I can no longer be arsed. It didn't take long. So if anyone else wants to discuss Levy's ambition, the chances of us getting relegated or anything else that doesn't belong in here.........

And immediately, we get another load of posts that just take the piss, what a complete waste of time.

We could end up doing a few deals either on a loan to buy basis (Champions League dependant purchase etc) or deals similar to Pepe at Arsenal where there is a high price spread over a few years.
