Hertyid on COYS:

One down. One close. One not so much.

Hugo was a funny one. Rumour has it they turned down a bid from us a month ago, we never bid any more and then they call us yesterday and say ok yours if you still want.

he said two midfielders and a striker originally so presumably Dembele is down, Willian is close, striker is not so close, and Lloris is a bonus

Those guys should not play poker.

So do we think that Dembele was a plan B signing then after giving up on a preferred option. I only say this because we were willing to pay the release clause for him. So surely if he was a plan A target we would have done that much earlier in the summer?

Edit: Btw im delighted with the Dembele signing! :)

I don't think the goal comparison is that significant, Dembele won't be playing off the striker - regularly anyway IMO. What he will bring is plenty of drive with his excellent ball carrying ability, and he has the brain to pick intelligent passes as well...from deeper positions. He ticks a lot of boxes for what a modern central midfield player should have, and I'm hoping he'll be used as part of a midfield three. I think we'll be a hell of a lot stronger for it - away from home as well.

So do you think we will be stonger?

from this;

______Parker__Modric ___
Lennon_______________Bale
___________VDV__________
___________Ade__________

to this (taking in consideration VDV looks set to go).

______Sandro___Dembele___
____________Sig___________
Willian_________________Bale
___________Ade___________

Buy Mouts, Affeley and another striker and yes we will be stronger.

Almost certainly plan B after plan A (moutinho) proved to be too costly.

I'm pleased with Dembele based on whate I've seen of him, but can anyone tell me if he could play well in a central midfield position alongside Sandro? I know he plays centrally, but would he be tripping over the toes of people like VDV (if he stays)?

I liked this line from a United fan on Dembele to us:

Hopefully we match the spuds bid. If not we will end up buying him for 35 mil in 2yrs

Over the course of a season, home and away, the latter...

Isn't Dembele similar to Siggy??

Not at all to be quite honest. Siggy's what I'd describe as a give-n-go type who plays way more in the attacking half of midfield with an eye for goals and he will attack the defense by trying to go for runs off the ball. One thing that makes him a bit different from a lot of his types is that he's a fantastic free kick specialist.

Dembele on the other hand is more of a central midfielder that can go on long runs using his pace/dribbling to hopefully break down the defense and then make a pass to setup a chance. Dembele's looking more for the assist or the pass that sets up the assist. He's pretty well-rounded bar his shooting ability.

Man Utd fans seem to have good grip on football in general, and also knowledge and fair appraisal on our team...

The Gooners simply haven't a clue

Very clued-up fans - they know their football. Have been spot on about many things on their forum over the seasons and they have had many good words to say about us in the last 3 years. They see our potential.

Gooners are such bellends. They are obsessed by Carzola and whatever price it was they paid for him. I hope, by some freak chance, that he turns out to be a complete flop there. I'm still not quite sure why a guy who has spent his time playing for Villareal and Malaga is universally acclaimed as a world class midfielder - better than Fabregas according to Keown.
