So basically they said a backup will be done, as it can't be finalised later than the deadline which is just 5 days away. I'm usually a positive lad but I can't help but worry about who we'll end up with. Let's just keep wishing for the best, that's all us fans can do

Its always a bad outcome when we start getting the backup of the backup option.

only playing devil's adovcate here, but I remain to be convinced that any of the seven defenders we've signed in the past couple of years have done anything very much to materially "address our dodgy back line". Have you seen us defend lately? In fact, I'd probably extend that to Vertonghen, who seems to lack some of the basic fundamentals necessary in a centre-back and likes to employ the 'back off, shepherd them inside and let them shoot' technique.

It's frustrating that we don't have a decent back up for Kane but we have a week to go. We've strengthened the defence and cleared a lot of dead wood, as long as we get a back up (to Kane) I think we'd have had a good transfer window. A dcm would be the cherry on top, but I'm not as worried about that as a lot of others

Good point!
But, as a few have said on here, there's a chance that he could have a release clause that we're willing to meet.
Its a long shot I know, but still an outside chance.

My concern is the backup of the backup of the backup option at DM.
I honestly can't think of anyone else that's either available or in our price range.
