He might be, but will you be happy with Hooper, Ady and Defoe as our first choice strikers for the next two three seasons is more the question even if he ultimately turns out to be no better or even worse then what we already have? If we get him I obviously hope he does well in the white and blue but our history with strikers, especially British ones is quite awful!

If he scores every week I'll be happy. I'd much rather spend a £5-10m and get a 20 goal a season striker than spend £20-30m. Will he do it? I don't know, is he as exciting as Llorente or Falcao, of course not, but there's little chance of getting them.

Whoever we get, I will wait until I see them play in our team for a season before I decide they're shit.

No, he said the Club were playing a PR game where it leaks info via various means...when you leak something, its never official...do you find it hard to believe that a club, any club, would use such methods?

For what end? The rumours come out way after season tickets have been sold and all they do is piss off the fans and make the club look like idiots. Not the greatest tactic.

Who said we are looking for someone better than Adebayor or Defoe (if one turns up on the right terms we will take him for sure). Given the January market, what we are probably looking for is someone to be available on the bench or as roitation for them - likely to be young who might developo into something decent, but could be a short term older striker (although no ITK to support the last).

Few good reputeable ITK's said it would be a busy January - JJ said specifically it was likely to be quiet.
If we were looking at short term depth, we would loan a striker. We are not the type of club to spend 6-10m just to add someone as a depth player for 4 months.

On a lighter note - off twitter

' Joey Barton must be one annoying **** He's only been there for 6 months and the whole of France is emigrating to Newcastle.'

also, if your copying something from twitter or anywhere else you need to make sure it does not break any of the SC Rules.
that one just posted would result in a ban

Agreed, but imo we need another striker either in Jan or Summer to build up a striker squad - IMO I expect either one or both Ade and Defoe may move in the Summer and some continuity would be good. For preference therefore whilst a top striker would be noice I would hope we get a younger striker with potential - but if not available a loan striker is certainly an alternative

What, like the mid season memberships they are currently trying to promote?

Could you give me one official statement from the club (not Harry) to say that we were in for any of these players?

quite possibly one of the silliest posts on here in a long time.

With Spurs it's fairly obvious that we are chasing a player if the story keeps coming back and the spurs manager at the time, starts mentioning it or says '' I dont know about that one ''. We have shown an interest in a lot of those players but a theory that is growing legs atm is that the interest is for the benefit of us fans an little else. So we are kept unaware of how little transfer budget the club has or is willing to spend.

What about Remy, M'Villa, Sissoko, Sturridge and all the others. Theres been some good business done.
All of those players went for far more money than they were actually worth. The wages that Remy and M'Vila are on are ludicrous.

That was to get them to places they didn't want to go. Im sure if we bid for M villa he would have taken a pay cut to join us.

So what about when Harry and AVB say they expect little action in the transfer window? Are they just fucking with our minds?

I can see no value in us "leaking" reports to the media or selected ITK's that we are in for a player that we have no intention to buy apart from if it's to try to get a better deal from another club for another player. Our season tickets are sold out.

I think it's probably more likely that we enquire about players and monitor them to see if they become available, sometimes media and ITK's get hold of this information and suddenly Spurs are in for ______, the ITK thread goes into meltdown everyone getting their hopes up, which are then crushed when nothing happens. It's not a conspiracy, just Spurs going about their business.

Possibly another Moneyball signing then? I completely agree about the 'sum of parts' though. Sometimes a group of talented individuals can perform exceptionally well together. Whilst a group of exceptional individuals can perform individual brilliance but as a group they fail.

I'm happy to give any player a chance in a Lilly-white shirt and if AVB thinks Hooper or Negardo fits our system and will perform then who am I to question his judgement.

Edit - unless he signs Emile Heskey then I'll go bat shit mental!

But maybe AVB can devise a formation and strategy that is tailor made for Heskey ?:)
