What started as such a promising transfer window, really is turning out to be worrying to say the least, I hope come the end of the window Poch will have been backed like promised, but it's hard to be confident when you see the all too familiar set backs we are having.

All itk suggested that the absolute Poch no.1 target was NDombele and that he wanted him in early......pretty sure achieving that is,at least to a large degree, backing the manager.

Goalposts do move but dont they say that its normally Levy that moves them? Im pretty sure ive read somewhere and wouldnt be surprised... like he agreed a fee then rings back and suggest a different lower fee - i bet thats what happened haha.

CHILL DA FUCK OUT... Levy got this.

Poch also has other priority targets in mind like Lo Celso, just because his #1 target was achieved, that one player alone doesn't compensate for the rest of the squad depth, he was backed yes in that regard, but instead of just replacing Dembele essentially, its important he is backed further.

Sounds like it was all agreed but Betis have decided they want more at the last minute.

Judgement will be made at the end of the window of course, but many of us have an unwelcome familiar feeling.

I hope for all our sakes Poch is backed by Levy in the next 10 days. We could be embarking on one of the most exciting seasons in our history if Poch is backed properly, alternatively it could be another season of frustration and so close but so far when it comes to winning major trophies and I think if we haven’t spent something like £150 million net by the end of the window, questions of Levy will need to be answered.

Just so everyone knows, I’ve selected this coming Friday as my breakdown panic day if no incomings have gathered pace by then. You’re all welcome to join me.
Lets not forget too that if Poch isn't backed this summer that more or less sees him off next summer imo but I guess that's for another thread

Don't get the bed wetting, all the ITK is still positive and we have never been in better shape going into a season.

-New stadium
-Players had full pre season
-Upgraded our weakest Position with a club record signing
-Got rid of the majority of our deadwood (Janssen, Llorente, Vorm) and our scapegoat (Trippier)
-Eriksen and Toby look likely to stay
-Not one of our rivals has upgraded

Lo Celso or an attacking option is key here, gives us the depth if Kane is injured and Son/Moura has to deputise. Sess is a nice to have or must have depending on Rose.

The frustration is we are that close to be exactly where we need to be!

But with Trippier being sold and ITK pointing to Rose heading out, we have weakened our next weakest area...so swings and roundabouts...

I could easily be wrong but 'terms changing last minute' doesn't strike me as they've suddenly asked for 15m more, more like they want a greater portion up front, a better % sell on clause etc. That would be a lot more manageable than them suddenly deciding they want to up the price by 25%.

Agree on Rose but not Tripper, in my opinion we have strengthened RB by him going. Just think City, Utd and Chelsea games last year.

Maybe Levy should have held back announcing the massive AIA deal.

I understand why you say this but AIA are mainly in ASIA with HQ in Hong Kong.
Last week AIA held many joint promotions while Spurs where in China and it was perfect for them to announce it when they did (but this is for another thread )

Dont get it why people seems to be upset we dont sign people/fast enough.

Last year the ITK was all positive and that we was close etc but we got nothing. Just don't believe everything the ITK say, a lot can happen from day 1 to day 2! Just wait until the player is holding our Jersey.

Personally I would prefer dybala over GLC but that's because I have never seen GLC.
Even if I like eriksen I think it's better to let him go unless he is 100% committed to the club

As always, thanks for the ITK !

What are you on about? That "deadwood" Llorente played a monumental role for us getting to the UCL final. Without him, we would have had an absolutely abysmal season. Ndombele is a replacement for the guy we sold for peanuts back in January so he's not even an addition. Last season Dembele was arguably the best CM in the league, so it's not exactly like we have upgraded with Ndombele either. Hopefully, he goes on to fulfill his potential and becomes world class, but Dembele was exactly that before his last injury. All in all, we have a worse squad as of today - we had a paper-thin squad as it was, and now we've sold a starter in Trippier to rely on three (imo) gambles. On top of that we've left another starter in Rose at home for the entire pre-season tour in hopes of selling him. So to just fill the gaps in the squad we ideally need 2 FBs, 1 ST and an alternative to Eriksen. That's assuming he even stays, which he clearly ideally don't want. Also assuming we're going to rely on Dier/Wanyama as alternatives this season as well, even though Wanyama is finished.

Also, how could you possibly use our rivals not upgrading as a good argument to why we haven't done anything? If anything, that is even more of a reason to move and cement our place in the top 3. But it's not even true anyways. Arsenal have spent more than us on a 40M budget. Even Chelsea have bought players ffs. United will spend on Maguire and probably Fernandes.

I would love us to be more pro-active as well and we should be trying to capitalise. Just don’t think it’s as bad as people are making out and think we are in better shape than we have been before.

Valid point on Llorente and Dembele was a great player but we got little from him last season (season before he was excellent). We would have had Sissoko down as deadwood before last season so there is more depth.

There’s still a few days more before the TW closes.

Let’s all calm down and wait for the window to close before letting all your emotions run out - whatever those emotions may be.

In the meantime, it’s been a hot summer, go have a beer or 10. ?

I *think* Foyth came back straight after Copa America because the dates worked better around his honeymoon.

Well, he’s suspended for our first two games. So there might have been an agreement with Poch to allow him to go on his honeymoon during that period. :)

I suspect our meaty shirt sponsorship or apparent interest in Dybala has tempted Real Betis to firm up their valuation (change of behaviour their end as the ITKs put it).
It's all negotiating tactics at the end of the day and easier to do now than in a week's time when it's squeaky bum time.

I also suspect we are being very calculated and open-minded with our options, which is why ITKs aren't concerned. The end of window antics of the past was because we needed to be prudent with finances. I think now the late window antics are because we are a bigger club and can likely afford nearly anyone, so who knows who might become available next week?
(i.e. Dybala type).
