Anyone remember my meltdown over Poch?

From everything ive heard, its well and truly over with now. Sorry Poch and sorry all those that backed him over FdB. The vibe from inside the club right now is actually fantastic.

I have every confidence in all players he wants to keep or sell. Even if he tried to buy Jack Wheelchair now I'd back him ;)

Roll on the season and COYS

Its nice to hear that Poch is popular and settling well. But having lived through the Juande Ramos reign, it has scared me for life when it comes to managers. So I support Poch and keep my fingers crossed, while keeping a keen eye out for black cats.

But very good to hear about Poch's popularity.....

Hope thats not why rose signed a new contract!!
I think the idea behind the Rose contract could be that Poch may be able to bring something out of him, in turn increasing his current value- longer contract- higher price. This coupled with the competition offered by Dvies could prove to be great business; either larger fee or better player, works for me.

Regarding Grey Fox's info earlier that the trip to Helsinki should indicate which players are in Pochetinos plans - I have seen pictures of Soldado, Sandro, Lamela, Holtby, Fryers, Adebayor, Capoue, Townsend and Rose on their way to Finland. Anyone else?

Just in case anyone was doubting Levy's powers this window, Sporting Lisbon's press release is a good read. Not negative at all, oh no!

"Sporting Clube de Portugal announces that during [July] the club started negotiations with Eric Dier over the renewal of his contract," the statement read.
"Unexpectedly, Sporting were confronted by the father and the official representative of the player with a transfer offer from Tottenham Hotspur, who referred to the current administration an agreement signed by previous directors and administrators, which obliged a sale of the player for a sum not exceeding €5m, or for [Sporting] to equal the proposed salary, which is impossible due to the wage structure in place, the ongoing financial restructuring and necessary sustainability of the club.
"Additionally, Sporting were informed that the player does not want to stay at the club even if the proposed salary was matched. And even if Sporting received a superior offer, whether in terms of a transfer bid or salary, from another club the player would not accept it.
"Given the constraints outlined above, Sporting announces the sale of all economic rights for the player Eric Dier to Tottenham Hotspur, for the value of €5m net, without any future rights or guarantee.
"Sporting wishes Eric Dier all the best in his career."

JJ's willingness to discuss our interest in Musacchio gives me hope that is at least a good possibility. Won't come cheap. Goal reckon 15m. I'd be surprised if it were less than 20m.

I've had my doubts about him, but if I had Levy's beautiful little bald head in front of me today, I'd rub it for good luck. ;)

Didn't we get gazumped on Nani 7 years ago or something, revenge for Levy is like rotten fish for the Swedish or century eggs for the Chinese, a delicacy best left for many years to build up a stink..

[/U]Takes a big man to admit he's wrong. (y)

Think we all are united on the Poch band-wagon now and everything i've heard this pre-season has been nothing but positivity surrounding our management structure - even the tweet re Levy, Baldini, Broomfield and Poch all in unison over transfer targets.

Better days ahead I feel!

Did you just call him fat :p

I think this may be one case where Baldini is showing his value. Having a network of people in the game alerting us to situations and contract clauses for potential targets etc.

Baldini sets them up, Levy knocks 'em down.

So what really happend with POTL

As part of an article I'm about half way through concerning the best moments of ITK during SC's first 10 years, I have completed the draft of Blue and Yellow

5) I See a carnival of colors.....all grey and brown and grey

Phantom of the Lane or POTL was a stalwart of a fellow forum, COYS, for a number of years. Rumored to be Levy himself or a Donna Cullen stooge or the tea lady at QPR (by me) or any number of people in-between, he was considered one of the best ITK for a stretch of time. But chinks in his armor appeared in 2011. It started with a quick reference to rumors about Joe Cole and Jamie O'Hara, where he ended his post with the now infamous "blue and yellow".

It was a cryptic and cryptics, which you will see occasionally, tend to cause meltdowns among ITK consuming fans.

Those two colours would come to dominate the summer transfer window of 2011 and even blight the summer of 2012 and would become synonymous with POTL on a handful of internet forums. The speculation on who the cryptic refereed to spiraled out of control.

Do you combine them to make green so that it had to be Muammar Khadaffi's son Al-Saadi? Was it a Swedish player, when Sweden only produces shitty furniture and shittier pop-bands? Was he racist and referring to an Asian with one of them, even though it was so not-PC to refer to the fact that Asians go into violent rampages when the see the color blue? Were we signing a smurf? Was yellow a reference to Coldplay and maybe Apple was going to be our next sponsor?

Despite this, he would reference the colours nearly a dozen more times that summer and countless times more in the 27 months that followed that initial post.

It would lead in August of 2011, to his now infamous showdown with Peanut, a fellow ITK at COYS. Peanut claimed that POTL was using blue for any player that suited his needs and POTL politely disagreed. Nothing happened that required the COYS staff to get involved.

For the next two years, due to blue and yellow, he would suffer from credibility issues, despite a pretty good record during that time. But his posting took a more defensive tone.

Then last summer, it all ended when Willian was forced by Anzi, at gunpoint some say, to go to Chelsea as part of Abromovich's need to overpay for washed up legends that had once played in Italy. This time it was Samuel Eto'o, who wouldn't come without Willian, the only person that listened when Eto'o would go on one of his rants about supply-side economics.

POTL last logged on August 22nd of last year. At that time, he was seeking to assure people around the Chelsea derailment story surrounding Willian

As well all know, Chelsea did end up hijacking our bid for the Brazilian. And the response by fans was to hang POTL in effigy, as if he had lied. In fact, as the story was revealed later, it was quite obvious he was telling the truth. Everyone at Tottenham felt very strong about the signing, specifically because he was having his medical with us when everything went tits up. But POTL never returned.

I think we can add Sporting to the list of clubs that hate us and probably never want to deal with us again. Unfortunately these things have a tendency to come back and bite you in the ass, thankfully we have our partnership with Madrid to fall back on.
