This is what some don't understand
It's been a very good window yes, but never will our stock be higher regards what you mention.
We are so close to being a real title contender, we always seem to be just short in certain positions.

We haven't spent what we apparently have, it would be criminal to not really go for it.
Who knows what will happen next season regards Conte or even Harry.
I want us to win things now, we will never have a better opportunity, top coach , really good team,
If Conte is content ofc with what we've got, then fair enough let's crack on with this group, but I would be very surprised if Conte didn't have his eyes on a couple more incomings that are gettable.
This is not Levy bashing post, I totally love the way he has guided us through all the shit the last few seasons....but come on Daniel, go for it just abit more, we are so close.
This just isn't true. We were both better and closer under Pochettino to the top teams than we are to City and Liverpool now and I'd argue our squad was better then in almost every single position than what we have now.

Anyway, to keep it on topic, regardless of how this window ends Conte has clearly shifted his tune as he's constantly talking about building something over time. If we look at this window as the first major one under his tenure, we have two more windows in January and next summer to address, what, 3-4 positions? That's not a lot and this window has left us in a very good position to do just that - all we need to do is maintain our position in the top four which the squad is capable of doing.

If this is where we end, I think we're missing two first team players.

An upgrade on CB - I can see why we're waiting for the right player as this (like Romero) is someone we'll need as a core player for 5+ years.
A attacking midfielder - someone who can break down teams by direct runs (Zaniolo/Traore/etc).

The problem is that the league looks like it could be there for the taking this year and we might not get the same opportunity again (similar to when Liverpool signed Van Dijk and really pushed on and we stagnated).

The other concern is that a lot of the deadwood will be back with us next summer...

There has been talk of holding money back to January, as it might make all the difference being able to strengthen in a specific area if needed during a long season like this one.

Saying that I'll be surprised if no one comes in at all.
And Conte did mention that it would take 2/3 more transfer windows to get us to compete. Been a strong window overall.

Totally agree.
We’ve had a great window, but might be a little short as things stand.

Things do seem to change very quickly however!

I think if we are truly serious about winning things than you are spot on. This summer we have done an excellent job of resetting the squad and making it CL level. To win things though there is a further step required and that is a really expensive step. Hence, why I find the ITK that the shop is closed os hard to believe as the required options could well become available.

Great window.

One more quality attacking option would of rounded us out perfectly.

But if that option isn't doable/available right now better we wait.

Maybe something opens up in the next two days.

Maybe the player/s were interested in won't be involved at the WC. ??
Could be a case we’re casually waiting for Inter to fail to progress in a CL group with Bayern and Barca in it and will wait to see if they fancy our money in January to offset that financial loss ?

We beat City twice last season and drew twice with Liverpool so I'm not sure I agree. They've dropped points already and we're up there - with a better squad this time round. We're getting there.

Don't think I expected anything else. I am shocked that people feel we will be short when we have moved out Winks, Ndom, Reg, Rodon and GLC and replaced all of them with better players
Some will not get the deadline day fix they need... maybe that's the "short" part ?

I think you maybe underestimating the Conte factor over Poch ,who I loved btw, but Conte just feels different and is different.
And though I get your point regards which was the better squad,we didn't lose to city or Liverpool last season, and that's before this seasons additions.

Very underwhelming end to the window, especially given we did all our business so early.

This time next summer we’ll be facing the same problems, with regards to outgoings who are out on loan , & needing a CB/AM.

Completely agree with this. Re defender, we certainly need that star LCB, thinking of Bastoni (for example) alongside Romero and Dier just frighteningly good prospect. But i also have a feeling Lenglet will surprise a lot of us and wouldn't put it past him to become a starter for us. That being said it is true we are two injuries away from our back line looking very ropy indeed. But thats also the case for most teams even those in the top 4. It is a shame we don't have a young big HG prospect in our ranks that could fill that spot.

Really, at this point id kind of wish we would go back to Roma and just give them one more offer that is sweater then any we have given before as it really seems to me that this is the one Conte want's above all others. I know injuries are a concern but if we have been pursuing him this long we must know that very well and yet haven't really moved on knowing that Roma obviously value him highly. I know the contract element is there but id be very surprised if he didn't sign one after the window shuts.
