Cannot overstate what an incredible signing I think Laporte would be for us, really hope we get more info on that soon.

Out: Tanganga, Rodon, Sanchez, Dier / Davies
In: Van de Ven, Laporte, Phillips

Would be an overhaul of the defence I certainly didn't think possible in one window.

I'm not that sure about Laporte if I'm honest - he's never really stuck out to me. Maybe that's a good thing for a defender? I'm open minded on the matter in general, but when you consider the backdrop: experienced, prem ready CB for 30m (or so), then that feels like a sensible buy

He'll be a top signing I have no doubt but I would really like to see the club focus on the future now and go all out for Tapsoba or Antonio Silva.

Our greatest success has come when nurturing quality potential and whilst I definitely wouldn't say no to Laporte, he's a Rolls Royce level signing, I would like the rebuild to continue having longevity at the forefront of its thinking

Laporte is only 29, sure he’s not a youth but no reason his next club shouldn’t get 3-4 decent seasons from him.

Bringing in a player who started 33 games for City season before last is a no brainer to me, if you’re able to do it.

Huge statement of intent. Not just to the fans and the rest of the league, but to the squad as well.

After what Ange said about his profile for a CB and the need for pace, plus the reports he was adamant that we should not consider Max Kilman because of his lack of recovery pace, the idea of Laporte does seem a bit inconsistent.

Excellent defender and i'd ordinarily jump at the chance to get someone so composed on the ball, but does he have the pace? Is he quicker than Kilman or Lenglet?

If its a genuine link then of course it must mean Ange doesn't have these concerns so all good.

Laporte could easily be just as important, if not more, for us as Zinchenko was for the lot down the road. He's a very good player. The only question mark is around his 1v1 defending which he'll presumably have to do a lot of. Personally don't think that'll be an issue at all.

Laporte may not be as quick as Van der Ven, but he certainly isn't slow.

Laporte is the one imo. We need a level head/experience back there. VDV should get plenty of mins this year still, then next year/year after we can start bleeding in the likes of Phillips, Dorrington etc

What does Kane have to gain from signing one of those options? Wages? He’d get more from a signing on fee following a Bosman next summer.
We're hardly keeping him captive, are we? Kane knows full well that winning a trophy with Spurs would mean so much more for his legacy than winning several trophies with Bayern. If he signs the short term option, he gets to stall his decision to see where the Ange era takes us.

We need both and already have Vdv and Phillips for the future. Romero is still pretty young too as are the full backs. Even the keeper is young for a keeper. We could really do with experience among them so Laporte makes most sense.

Vicario, VDV, Laporte and Maddison would broadly upgrade all areas that were weak...... then selling Kane gives a new massive hole (Don't tell me Richie fills it).

Turn down the offers, keep him, see what happens.

Great news on the Laporte ITK, if you need a ball playing CB who is comfortable under pressure you can't look much further than one who's been a regular starter for Pep's City. With them getting Gvardiol in this would be a great signing for us and at only 29 it's a great age for a CB.

Agreed. Romero needs experience next to him to calm him the fuck down. I say it all the time, Naybet made Ledleys career as a CB

Would be fine with Laporte. Good defender, reads the game well, good positioning, bags of composure and quality on the ball. Him and Maddison were on my wish list at the start of the window.

Age isn’t ideal but I certainly wouldn’t turn my nose up at him. Signing Laporte alongside VdV would be good business both for the here and now and the future. I’d imagine he’d want to be one of the top earners at the club, though.
