Apart from multiple ITK sources over several years?

and this...

"Dealing with Tottenham's Daniel Levy was more painful than my hip replacement" says Sir Alex Ferguson

is that because we didnt bend over and let sir Alex do whatever he wants.

Levy is there to protect spurs' interest. If he was easy to deal with then Kane would have left 2-3 years ago.

By the way he was voted to be the Premier league chairman to represent PL interest in the ECA. That surely says something.

Maybe the reason we try to squeeze the VDV deal , is because the club are not sold on him beeing a player that will instantly improve our first 11? He is 22 and only had one ok season in the Bundesliga.
Hopefully something else cooking in the background and VDV is the "backup" That said i am not surprised at all that Levy is again trying to save a small amount, and probably end up with Lenglet in the end.
At some point it is time to shit or get off the pot.

I think serious questions need to get asked if we are still nickel and dimeing when we are the 3rd most valuable sports franchise on the planet in terms of profitability (only the Dallas Cowboys and NE Patriots are above us)
We’re not a sports franchise or a brand! We’re a football club.

Sounds like nothing has changed and that is the problem! I'm surprised that anyone is surprised.

I believe that i am correct in saying we have signed four players so far, and wothout scouring websites, i can't think of another PL team who have signed more?

Ange has taken twenty seven players on tour in order to assess them?

I would guess that over the next week to ten days he will have a certain idea of who he wants to move out?

Targets identified do not have to be signed and part of this tour, and in seasons past we have signed players late in the window, sometimes in last week or so of the pre-season.

Glass half full.

Have faith that Ange will be backed, and has been so far.

Said in the VdV thread with the stalling of momentum it wouldn't be long till we hear stories of Levy moving the previously agreed goalposts and putting the brakes on the rebuild...

My next prediction is Lenglet drafted in.

ITK has suggested that one of the two CB's identified we be brought in.

No one knows where negotiations are on either, but it will be one of them and perhaps we are waiting to reach an agreement with both options before offering a contract to one of them?

IMO Lenglet would be a good perminant addition to the squad.

Not wishing to contradict, but just over a week ago we got a call from our client who said “we’ve got a call at 7pm with the buyer, there’s going to be a chip”.

We got instructed end of May to sell this building. 100s of millions of pounds. We’d all been working on the basis that “the price is is the price” from Day 1. That call was THE DAY we were supposed to exchange - we were in the final stages of issuing the final form contract and all of the annexures to it.

It absolutely DOES happen and it usually happens when you’re so close that neither side are really actually going to pull out. In fact it’s an entirely common story at the moment. And it does work.

All buyers are getting squeezed on interest rates - term sheets are getting ripped up. I can’t imagine it’s any difference for Spurs or any club using debt.

Whilst I can’t attest to this particular situation in the football industry, to suggest this sort of thing doesn’t happen/work at the top end where people are dealing with 100s of millions of pounds worth of assets isn’t right from my experience.

How will you feel if you have to deal with them again Stoof? I'd imagine forewarned and forearmed, and maybe if there's an alternative client you'd be more interested in giving them a shot first.

Thanks for the latest ITK guys. Not at all surprised though. How can anyone be surprised? Its how Levy and ENIC have done things since 2001. Yet the large majority will defend Levy for how he runs the club.

Here's praying they finally come to their senses and realise two new CBs is exactly what we need.

Lenglet is a squad player at best . We need players that will improve our back four next season . He struggled in a back 3 so In a 4-4-2 will he improve his game and our defence ?

it’s a no from me

Or he’s taken them because we haven’t signed anyone, due to someone messing about with deal structures again?

We both can come up with narratives..

The fact remains, we need new CBs. Ange isn’t a miracle worker and suddenly going to get our current crop working, that 3 managers failed to do.

We haven't signed "anyone"?

You sure?

Where have I said we are trying to reduce the fee?
Well I think when you say we had agreed a fee but now looking to get a late win it certainly suggests as much. At the very least going back on our agreement but ultimately a win for us is typically getting a better deal financially. That's generally what a win is for us as history has shown. Even if we're trying to change terms it will be so we pay less in one go or whatever. I'm not sure how else to interpret it.

Maybe different payment terms, different amount upfront etc

Which is why I said "Even if we're trying to change terms it will be so we pay less in one go or whatever". There will be a financial element to it most likely if we're looking to get a win.

Nothing to do with me really as I was sell side. Don’t have choice over buyers! Buyer’s solicitors were good though, so that always helps.

The deal went through - both sides got what they wanted. It’s just the game.

Is there a chance we can go back and repair the damage on VDV, or has our leader hacked people off beyond repair?
Is this likely to result in us paying the extra to get T?
Or guessing more likely we’re now in the Anderso, Lenglet bargain bin.
Such a shame when, for once, we seemed to have our ducks in a row.

I guess my point is that integrity is important in business, and even moreso in a business where dealings are always in the spotlight. Cultivate a reputation for being difficult to deal with and any potential negotiations are likely to be fraught. Levy has a reputation for always trying to pull his adversaries pants down, and the whole football world knows what to expect from him. I see it as a weakness when you actually need to get stuff done, and even when a deal is in the bag he seems to always want to go back on it and squeeze some more out of it. Sometimes it just seems totally unnecessary to me.

I also said quite clearly it was regarding how the deal was shaped. Im being quite deliberate in how I'm phrasing it for good reason.

No one has said the deal for VDV is dead.
Levy is up to his moving goalposts tricks.

Id bet a lot of money we still sign VDV.

Very poor way. Season only four weeks away. Assessment we need central defenders don’t require time. Sanchez wants out, and Perisic. Nothing to assess there. Here we go again Trix. You know where this is going mate.

Given people talking about letting managers have more control, if Ange wants to look at what he has and if they can play his system, then why not?

Playing the way Nuno, Jose and Conte wanted required different players. These players might suit Ange.
