Like Arsenals title challenge!

This is exactly the problem with YouTube scouts, they rarely see full matches and it's only ever well put together highlights packages. You could make Scott Parker look like Andreas Iniesta with enough video jiggery pokery.

You could also make him look like a dog chasing it's tale if you linked together all his 360 degree spins, that would be pretty funny if anyone has the skill.

If it's a choice between 1) Benteke and Chadli or 2) Bernard + relatively cheap backup for Adebayor, I would opt for the latter.
I'm convinced Bernard is going to be top notch.

Hobson's choice.
Can I have option 3) Bernard + relatively cheap backup for Defoe

Hobson's choice or Morton's fork?

Bernard would make this window an amazing success. Even the thought of paulinho alongside sandro and holtby/demb is giving me a stiffinho

Why all the gloom?? we've broken our transfer record by the second week of the transfer window, on a likely future World Cup winner approaching his prime, in a position that has always been the lynchpin of a successful side

Oh boo hoo poor us. I'm sure we'll add a striker but Bernard looked special last night. Yes please, with bells on

*however unlikely :(

Pretty sure the whole reason Baldini was brought in was to see out transfers and shouting slicken up a bit. He's there to improve out options on players, so if Villa and the Croatian lads bailed due to not wanting to relocate, so be it, let Franco do what he brought in to do and shift targets.
It is still very early in the window. So far we have signed a class midfielder to bring the calibre of our CM options above Hudd, Livermore and Parker.
A striker will happen, I'm sure of it, maybe even two if Ade or Defoe are sold. A player for now, and someone a bit younger to understudy but with potential.
Keep the faith, it's early.

Reading this thread I am reminded of the life of Brian and the what have the Romans ever done for us scene. Except replace the people's front of Judea with us and Levy/Baldini/Board with the Romans.

That's not a Hobson's choice and neither is it a Morton's fork.

I think it starts out as strictly a Dilemma. A choice between two or more options, none of which are desirable (for the subject)
It is then turned into False Dilemma with the addition of a third option.

A Hobson's Choice is one or more options in which only one can be actually selected
The mafia use this quite often. You can pay your debt or we will break your kneecaps.

A Morton's Fork is then two or more choices yield equivalently bad results. Close in scope, but since we don't know how Bernard, Benteke or Chaldli will fare, it is hard to use this logic term

I gave you and wookie rep for using the terms. They are so rarely used these days and they are such lovely terms as all logic terms tend to be. I mean "No True Scotsman". How is that not something we use everyday.

Fair point let me rephrase. Our chase of a class striker and or a wing forward has only been infuriating for the last 11 days? As opposed to the last 4 years!

We all thought we had signed our class striker [Ade] last year. It just hasn't panned out that way and have we needed wing forwards for the last four years? Its just a term that's been bandied about this window. We haven't even started playing 433 yet.

I'm dying for a line or two from 'looklikemodric' to shed some light on the shape of things to come.... his mere mention of Higuain at Spurs had me salivating for days !

I'd love to know if the ITKs place any faith in Levy to back AVB for the PSG snub, and get him at least one player he has targeted, surely AVB can be trusted to pick a player,....... and maybe just maybe we are talking to a few people apart from 'Ben-not-really-unbelievable-tekkkeers'!

Just not a fan of Benteke, and certainly not at the prices that are suggested as 18m + ,I can't shake the 'one season wonder' feeling with him, and the fact that he put in a transfer request makes me question this kids attitude, he'd do well to listen to Lambert and not believe his own hype, we've already got Ade and Defoe that reckon they're the 2nd Coming... but hey what do I know, I never want Pav to go!

Though my disapproval of stocking piling midfielders is well known, the only 'Christian' I want to rock up at the Lane for coming season has a surname of Eriksson, - though Siggy had a couple of decent through balls (particularly to Lennon Vs Scum) I reckon Eriksson could unlock many a Prem defences,.... now that Dortmund have take 'Henrik M-unspellable' we might have chance to land him from Ajax.

I'm absolutely on board with a big push for Bernard, but as ITK suggests, probably Porto got best shout - given they're cash rich from sales of James Rodriguez and Moutinho to Monaco.

Who's 433 and how much do we owe him?

Feeling kind of mellow. I'm actually expecting us to sign a nice player in the next week or so (maybe Chadli) and think we'll get a Baldini/AVB special. When the ITK is a bit gloomy or quiet I actually tend to relax. I soak up every scrap of ITK like a hobo pouncing on a half-eaten donut but not knowing what the club is up to is actually quite relaxing.

We have needed competition for Lennon and Bale for years! Every time either of them has got injured or the last 3 years, we have dropped points!

But there not wing forwards and we have never played with wing forwards. I agree with you we need players not just competition but better players, but I think this window will be as infuriating as every other window we just don't have that sort of money.

Well if we can sell Crouch to them for £10m (still cant believe that!) then who knows how much we'll be able to sell Defoe to them for!
True, true, but how many times will they let themselves be fooled? Well one should never underestimate stupidity...

Why should we! We have been let down for the last three years.

Same old problems. Levy wants too much dough for our medium quality overpaid englishmen and doesn't want to pay for the real quality that we need to take us to the next huge step. Not top four but top three. If you aim for fourth you end up fifth. The next step is currently well beyond us.

I want the best people in my business and in return they deliver but I have to hunt them down, make them feel wanted and pay them big bucks......its simples.

Oh and for f sake remove Ekong from your squad we let him go in May. I think he is in the US of A.

Yeah I'm grumpy have been for three years cos we should have overtaken the SCUM and moved on.:inpain:
